This game is in desperate need of a global tune up patch.

I had an extremely frustrating time today. I was trying to find a good station to trade with to cause a boom to help my Powerplay efforts. Only, when I was trying to use the market search, the selected market on the galaxy map(from the commodities market 'select market' option) would continually fail to apply to the market. It would leave it selected for the 'search market' tab, but then the choice to select it was greyed out so I still couldn't select it. Eventually I had to select a different market, deselect that market, go to the system map, select the target, back out, and THEN hit apply, to get it to work. Of course, all of this was compounded by the fact the market selection had virtually no filtering features, so with all the Odyssey settlements available I had to cycle through like 300 different markets to find the one I wanted.

That took me 10 minutes. Then, I bought the desired commodity - but because it was from my fleet carrier, it failed to actually put anything in my cargo hold. I then plotted a route and tried to jump - but despite plotting the route successfully, it was out of range! Somehow it had failed to account for my mass when plotting, but wouldn't let me jump with the plotted route.

So I had to replot, and flew to the target station, an Odyssey settlement. I fly in and land - only the goods that it said could be sold for 4k each are actually illegal, and unsellable. Annoyed and not wanting to waste the trip, I decide I want to get out of my ship. Only when I do, I realize I used the wrong suit to cut open doors, so i try to get back in to swap - only for the game to soft-lock with a black screen and footsteps playing. I have to log out - only that deletes all the local materials! Still, i decide to do some recon and get out to wander around, only all the NPCs are bugged out and not following their correct patrol schedules, just standing still!

Eventually I p*** someone off and they chase after me, and I try to board my ship, but the blackscreen during boarding lasts so long, I die, unable to do anything.

I get that there need to be priorities, but the current state of bugs and out of date features is becoming unacceptable. The game really needs a good tuning, refreshing some of these features that haven't been updated in a while, improving black screens, fixing broken patrol routes, and so on and so forth. Otherwise I can't help but worry that the game will just slowly lose all the gains it's made over the year.

The galaxy map in particular has become a PITA to use. And that's before we get into the things that really need attention.

The galaxy map filters have been broken for MONTHS. You can't reliably find anything now, and for me at least it's a game-breaking issue.

They said they fixed it in the last patch but they didn't. It used to be that you could PERMANENTLY set ALL of them in a particular way each. Now you can only set ONE at a time and it immediately clears after you set it.

This happens when you plot the route, then fill your cargo hold, or refuel. With a full cargo bay you can't jump as far. This can occur even if you add a single tonne into your hold.

I know how you feel, Ive been playing in VR for a while now and its frustrating to try and use the ingame searches.
I always have to take the head-set off and use INARA. Because the ingame stuff is too broken or just insuficiant.
I dont need to pretend that INARA or player gained knowlage doesnt exist for Elite to remain a good game.

They should embrace the collectivly gained knowlage rather than pretend that all a player knows is what "they" have seen.
The Codex is great but the game needs something better and INARA is already there and just waiting to be added :)

I plotted it AFTER I filled my cargo hold. I think it might have happened because of the fleet carrier market bugs.
Yes, sounds plausible. I think this bug may even have saved me a jump or two now and then. On arrival, you try to sell and there's nothing there, but then a quick check on the rhs panel is often enough to wake it up and tada, you suddenly have a full hold :ROFLMAO:

...the number of bugs, brokent features, unmanageable lists of stuff, etc is growing on a daily basis.

At this point we all have just to wait for the collapse.

That's why most people rely on third party sites the in-game stuff is minimum effort and that will do attitude but it's been like that for years and years . It's one of those "it's Elite" moments .

The thing that really chaps my ass about the galaxy map is the hard-coded click-and-hold to plot that you can't turn off.

It's annoying enough when just looking around the map while sitting in my ship, but it really gets me triggered after I accidentally send my carrier places when I'm trying to figure out where I want to park it, then I have open the menu again to cancel the accidental jump, then go back to the menu again to start looking at parking spaces once more... Only to have it happen again. It's infuriating!

That's not the problem. The problem is you can't pan the map without triggering the select function. That was not a problem in the past; it's something else they broke.

My opinion: I think the problem is that FD’s actions show that they are just fine with the state of bugginess, when they should be professionally embarrassed about it. Their buggy bug reporting site is designed to automatically, with no human effort, retire reported bugs unless they are confirmed by a number of other players. Then, for the most part, confirmed bugs are ignored, except for a very small number that get the most votes (that’s in addition to being confirmed numerous times), and rarely get addressed in updates. How many times has an update broken things in game that seem to be completely unrelated to the things listed in the patch notes? Many times. Although there’s no way to know for sure, and I don’t think FD have ever explained, this looks to me like a significant version control problem. It’s no wonder that there have been so many comments about them not playing their own game. All of these, in my opinion, are results of leadership problems, and as such, are unlikely to change unless/until there’s a change in leadership.
