Store scrubbing paint jobs again?

I'm not sure what they actually changed at this stage.

Store improvement? 2 big Arx banners
Releasing of skins? Some came out, more got lost.
Still getting some skins FOMO'd.

What was this even about? About as useful as a game update.

Just when I was softening up on my 4 year long boycott of Frontier's store and against my better judgement bought the C5 with MNB skin - I was going to save up another 4k Arx by playing the game for one of the metallic skins for it, but no chance of that now - they pull another Frontier again.

Well thanks for the reminder why I started my boycott to begin with, and it once again underlines the point that you can only judge them by their actions, not their words. They really have perfected the art of destroying goodwill as soon as it materialises.

Also as an aside, I guess that means that the number of skins available for the C5 drops back to a paltry 6. /slow golf clap

Arx prices and devaluing people's already purchased Arx (not me thankfully) was a nice big change, at least for them.

"But Frontier have to make money somehow" i already hear - yeah what about selling more copies of a game because people want to buy it .. but that would mean a lot more TLC beyond a handful of ships and overpriced skins.

It seems they're entirely focused on whales now, which might also explain the content focus on end game stuff.

They can do whatever they want now - players´ memory and attention spans are too scattered owing to the global abundance and oversaturation of everything among other things.

Things like "early access" ships and words like "A*X" have already been normalised and casually integrated for everyday use in forum discussions. Elite Dangerous is just one example. Congratulations on your compliance.

You do have to wonder about the motivation behind naming things Arx and more recently the streams into Frontier Unlocked knowing that people will use abbreviations...

Latest FU: buy Arx! Has a particular ring to it eh.

Disappointing to say the least. For every step the game takes forward, the store takes a step back. I don't see how "put all things in store > add to it periodically > run holiday sales > profit" is so hard. Time restricted content means I'll never buy it instead of buying it when I'm ready, it's that simple. Half the stuff I want is no longer available anyway, so I guess that's money I can spend elsewhere; I wonder how Frontier gains money from me buying unrelated stuff elsewhere?

What I find even more interesting is that the virtual currency Arx is only used for Elite Dangerous. It's not used for Planet Coaster or Planet Zoo. It's also not used for any of the other games Frontier make, but it's fair to theorize that those are licensed games and the IP rights holder might not want Frontier's own virtual currency used.

Would be good to hear a frontier response. As real currency for digital purchases are involved.

Don’t worry, in another few years you’ll forget all about it and splurge some Arx again on some other overpriced trinket. That’s really all they need from you.. 🙂

Nah the only chance of me spending arx is when I get enough from playing . The days of monthly arx has long gone . They pulled a fast one knowing that the early access of new ships would generate arx buying( so upped the price and devalued arx already bought ) .
Most Paintjobs are a minimum of 2years old and yet Fdev expect premium prices ??
But if people are still buying Arx they will keep on selling them .... No one to blame but ourselves

I don't want to suggest I'm suffering from buyer's remorse as I'm enjoying the ship, but I do feel rather dirty in ultimately encouraging/supporting them with their shenanigans. So, perhaps shame on me a little bit, also!

That's not from BurrPit, per se. It's directly from FDEV on their xitter account.

I understand why the Xmas paint jobs are ending (or at least their sale), but there was a very clear statement of FDEV in April about putting the fan-fav skins on the market "year round".

I should perhaps have inserted a comma between "BurrPit" and "ED's X says" to avoid people making that misinterpretation of my post.

I refuse to engage with x, facepage, etc so could not quote the "horses mouth" so to speak, plus of course ED have made no attempt to communicate this information to the thousands of players that visit the OFFICIAL FORUM here.

I might have thought of getting the proper Chrome skin for the FDL (at least), but that was before that message. I’m currently double-checking if my desires are that relevant…

*I didn’t see those above messages. Started writing this before they were posted and got distracted. Still just 50/50 on the success ratio.
