This game is in desperate need of a global tune up patch.

The problem is they broke the original map functionality. They broke it before FCs and before the Hold to Plot was even a thing. If they didn't break that we wouldn't even be talking about FC navigation.
There have been so many breakages even since I started (oh heck, that's almost 6 years now 😳) that I'm definitely losing track of them all...

Then, for the most part, confirmed bugs are ignored, except for a very small number that get the most votes
There is no way to know if the bugs that are addressed have anything to do with the reporting/voting system.

The reporting/voting concept is silly anyway. I'm sure its there just to give some people the happy feeling that their input has some influence.

They do fix things now and then; just see my signature for an example! The problem is they tend to break things at approximately the same rate, perhaps slightly faster. They've been gradually losing ground for a while now.

With powerplay 2.0 in play and likely able to run on its own for at least a few months, and the Thargoid War over for the time being, this is the PERFECT time for a big bug-fixing patch, maybe even two.

Start out the year by fixing some of the obvious bugs with powerplay, then dedicate the first few months of the new year towards just refining some of the biggest problems; lighting, optimization, multicrew, etc. Release all of those with a new early-access ship, maybe sometime in march. Everyone comes back and marvels how well the game is running, numbers go up, everyone wins!

If anyone wants to vote on this - I'd appreciate it! (Carrier transaction error)
45 pages of people reporting the same thing...but it still isn't fixed...
I just want to help my squad out with Odyssey Engineering and free up some space in my Cmdrs inventory 😢

Don't hold your breath. They closed out my support ticket and changed the status to "solved", but it's not, and then gave me this nice email.

I got so tired of bugs trying to play the BGS that I dropped everything and headed into the black. I'm avoiding plants to avoid the soft-lock black screen when getting in/out of the SRV/ship. But I've literally come here to have a whinge after I started waiting nearly a minute to complete jumps (again) and then it kicked me out altogether, and it's not even peak player time.

I've recently blown the cobwebs off my fleet on Xbox... I guess I'll be back to twiddling my thumbs in SC travel again.

I’m genuinely curious why some people are having such bad lag issues.

I get the occasional longer jump, but nowhere as consistent as some seem to, and the same with getting in and out of the pilot seat.

I’ve only had a couple of colourful snakes, other than when unlocking guardian modules which crashed to menu every time.

And other than briefly at the beginning of this latest update, my limpets have been fine with no loitering at the cargo hatch.

I think these kind of issues are heavily influenced by network/hardware factors, which might also explain why such bugs are so difficult for FDev to squash for good.

I have likewise not had as many problems as some are reporting.

Otherwise I can't help but worry that the game will just slowly lose all the gains it's made over the year.
No worries, given frontier work history, it will get a bit better bugwise in the next 2 years.

But never expect qol updates, it seems, no one dares to touch the old code. I would like to, but first we have to make it open source....

Imagine a galaxy provided by frontier, with open source clients to connect to...

If I remember rightly - I think it was during the Beyond updates some years back, that Elite was such a buggy mess they pushed back a "content" (ahem) update to work on bug fixes and some QoL stuff. Can't remember what it was specifically, but there were definitely pitch-forks in the forums and they responded to that by parking some new stuff to fix the old stuff.....some of it anyway.

Powerplay 2.0 feels half-done on-top of the other issues with the game, and now they want to drop Colonization on us.

As has been mentioned before, it's like Frontier say "Yeah that will do - it works - mostly!", and move on.
