Why does my collector limpet try to leg it and steal my materials?!

TDC collecting at dead titans. Fly close to a material item to collect it and at about 200-300m my collector limpet zooms off to pick up the material.
About 1 in 5 times the collector limpet decides to steal my cargo, attaches to the item and then makes a run for it...the limpet just keeps zooming away. If I do nothing it gets out past the 1km range and dies.
If I boost after it and manage to catch up to it then as soon as I get within 100m it decides that legging it was a bad idea and delivers it to my scoop.
Reminds me of a dog with bad recall.

Years of salvaging HGE POIs and mining...never had this issue.
When dead Titan salvaging it happens very, very, often...it's like the limpet spots an interceptor, gets spooked and runs away at full speed.

Freaky! I've almost always just manually scooped during TDC hunts because the amount of useful material was low enough, and it's less boring. Must try it with collectors again

I did loads of Titan salvage with collectors (2A) and never saw that issue. What class collector controller do you have?

TDCs are cargo items so I use a collector as I am clumsy enough to crash into cargo and destroy it, mats just bounce.

Not seen this behaviour TDC hunting, but I was at Sol wiith no Thargoids.

Some of mine just hover under the bus and do nothing for a couple of minutes. (Yes scoop open). Limpets are degrading in intelligence across the board. They either mindlessly smash into things or commit suicided upon deployment. Really think someone should check and refresh the code.

Oddly, I've never ever seen the other one mentioned. Odd that some people get bug A, but never see B and some people get bug B, but never see A and a few people get both.

Maybe someone is using an ECM in the area?

Do ECMs affect limpets?
This happens when I'm in an instance on my own or when other Cmdrs are also present, like last night.

If your limpets are misbehaving, you can turn the limpet controller off/on to destroy all the limpets, leaving the cargo intact, after which you can launch new limpets. Takes less time than boosting away.
