Waiting for "Elite Dangerous - The Movie"

As others have said, I don't think a movie could even scratch the surface of the Elite universe. A (mini?) series, however, would be much more fitting in my view. The bigshots of the Bubble would appear on screen only rarely, but when they do, I'd like to see Ron Perlman as Archon Delaine and Léa Seydoux as Felicia Winters.

The main story would focus on the no-nonsense bounty hunter played by Lashana Lynch and her slightly anxious sidekick Finn Wolfhard (of Stranger Things fame). They would occasionally get missions from cranky local crimelord Olivia Colman. Their main antagonist would be Janelle Monáe, a public figure in a few systems, her public image almost Aisling-like, but in reality a Zemina Torval.

That's as far a I got.

FWIW, there's a quite good audio serial called Elite: Escape Velocity. I think the serial shows quite nicely how small personal fates can be linked to the destiny of the whole Bubble.

Keep dreaming. It will never make enough money/ticket sales
perhaps... however if you look on Prime video there are some utter dross bargain basement movies*** with CGI barely any better than in engine shots in the actual game.

with that in mind a low budget straight to tv film could work and may even cover its costs......

*** and if i didnt spell it out, my intimation is that there is also some gold in within that dross, it doesnt have to be a super expensive film to be worth a watch.

but sure ..... i dont think Elite has the world wide pull to garner a starwars episode 3 type budget!. (i dare say neither does star citizen and yet that would have far more pull than Elite does imo)

hell ultimately Halo has been canned and that would have relatively huge interest compared with Elite.
still nothing wrong with "What Ifs" however...........................

but i limit myself to elite daydreaming with "What if we get another paid expansion of the game".

The proposal to put CR as producer would ensure lots of dreams and money from ticket presales.
And the film would be shot in a technology that does not exist, yet.

And probably never will.
But the cool thing with a CR movie is that you can already pay for theatre tickets (at a slightly elevated price) and you will be allowed to watch a rough cut of the trailer over and over again ;)

Please no.
Hollywood havent got a clue anymore.
I agree with this. Many years ago, there was an attempt to make a movie out of the first of the three books written for the game Myst (this is relevant, bear with me).
The guys trying to get the movie made were huge Myst fans, well versed in the lore and had a great movie all planned out. They got a studio interested. The studio insisted on changes and the guys did not want to compromise. They were new to the movie industry and had no pull to get what they wanted. The movie ended up not being made (which was probably for the best).

A movie about Elite would be the same, the studio would make changes that would then not be an Elite movie.

Moreover, in ED's case the studio may be right that it is probably more interesting to watch paint dry than to see how our hero(s) farm mats and scan some alien vegetable. Well, maybe Terry Gilliam could make something farcical out of ED?
Sorry, now I am really getting sarcastic. the movie would be in 3D for the space and SRV actions scenes and in 2D for the station / outdoor scenes. Could save a lot of money.

I love the game to death and wish a few decades more with it but the last thing I personally want to see is a movie or a series made out of it. If my Wing Commander reference a few posts above wasn't enough, I may want to remind you of this abomination of a famous sci-fi pulp series:

Even today, fans quote its 'particular flavour'.

If FDev has good animators and art department (wich they have) a mini series or something akin to story's of the outlands (apex legends) would be fraggin awesome.
But keep it in house, we would probably all be very very disappointed when the likes of Steven Spielstein M Night Shamalami or JJ Abrahomovicz get their hands on it, don't even mention Bollywood, I'am not looking forward to a musical scene of Jameson with the Thargs, that's just wrong.
Wait now that I think about it...

It would have to act as an introduction to the galaxy to which end it would inevitably focus on a new Cmdr finding their way round, getting caught up in some scheme and pulling something spectacular to finish whilst leaving a hook for a sequel...
