Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Ten years after the other space game implemented instanced hangars:
The other space game has not implemented instanced hangars. When you're in a hangar, the pad is still blocked for everyone in the same instance.

I finally made it back to the bubble to hack holoscreens and chew bubblegum.

Wait Citizen

And funny, someone still trying to play the "Get a SSD" drive... i think unironically... in 2025.

I do still have one non-SSD drive, that i keep old games on and some backups. I doubt anyone these days installs modern games on a non-SSD.

Ah and Unreal Engine might not be so good for open world games after all:

Curiously also praises Star Citizen engine and it's developers, strange opinion not by an armchair developer but an actual one. ;)

Rather sensibly, they opted to build KCD as a single player game though.

Also rather sensibly, it sounds like he hasn't played SC much, just looked at it ;)

(Having just had a chat with a CIG dev about their tools, he best thank his lucky stars that he hasn't actually worked on it...)

Camural with a good one - tools that CIG will make to speed up development, that never seems to speed up development

I'm glad we have all those tools or the pace of development would be truly glacial.
Thank god for these tools. Just think, we'd still be stuck in only Stanton and Pyro without these!
CIG must be full of Tools
If only they had the tools to make those tools more efficient.
Yep, extremely funny: "we cannot make a planet yet". Actually, it is really sad. And it is new. All those tools CIG is making for 11 years by now.
The level of incompetence of CIG is only beaten by the level of stupidity of people who give them still money after all these years…
:ROFLMAO:

I assume the financials are so good, CI cannot believe it, so they are triple-checking them.

I don't think they're in a hurry to report that given how they had a sigificant increase in headcount throughout 2023 while their revenue remained stagnant.

lol, this poor guy didnt get the memo of the layoffs news since at least 2023 plus the more recent management ones...

Pretty sure CIG can come up with a ton of creative ways to not show a headcount reduction to the players via "integrating" some "key" contractors here or there. But the Calders wont probably like to see a stable headcount, they probably are looking for savings and cost reducions so they can get their returns... [insert the two red buttons, guy sweating, meme here]

Behold the best damned manually authored assets, taken to an epic level of detail and immersion without compromises that truly differentiate SC. After all are talking about a whooping 2 systems! So much better than lifeless procedural generation!:

“Yeah I've seen friend list dwindle rapidly since 4.0 launched. Even forgiving the server errors and black screens.... Pyro is just a bit meh.

The copy and pasted assets all over the place is really immersion breaking. Its genuinely hard to tell if your on Checkmate or Obituary without going into the map or the contested zone, otherwise they are carbon copies of each other even down to the trash/garbage placement.
Planet and moon settlements and RAB bases are no different, very little variation. Once you've seen the six or seven assets there's nothing left to see. The planets and nebulas are very pretty and impressive sure, but once you've been to one settlement or RAB, you've pretty much seen them all.
Gameplay wise, apart from contested zones, there's nothing even slightly new here. Instead of killing 10 drones in a bunker, you now kill 10 drones in a RAB.”

Ummm....

So, this is interesting how week 1 shows zero.

CIG doing some adjustment/correction? They definitely were pulling in money during that week (according to themselves)

CIG is going to pad week 3 as in - "See? The demand is spiking!!!"

Just remembered, the Turbulent acquisition was also in July 2023. Likely the headcount goes up for 2023 anyways. But their “contracted/other dev costs” item should also decrease correspondingly in the blog.
