Newcomer / Intro Help is this mission bugged?

Ive taken on a raid mission. I have to eliminate 11 members of the criminal faction LHS 452 Partnership. Im told to search for targets in settlements controlled by said faction. I am in system LHS 452 and can only find one settlement here. Turay Nutrition Farm. I went there and found nobody until I changed into my mavarick suit and then a ship landed and i got shot at. I took off and landed a couple of clicks out and hopped into my scarab and went back and destroyed them. I scanned the bodies for bounties but the mission has not updated (still says i need to kill 11 members)
Is it bugged? Should i go back? or just cancel the mission?

You will have to search nearby systems to find settlements that are controlled by that criminal faction. Note that the settlement must be active (ie not powered-down). The one you found was inactive, and after you landed some scavengers dropped in (and you killed those). They were not inhabitants of the settlement.

Inara.cz can help you search for settlements for a particular faction.

That said, those missions do tend to be a pain and I generally skip them.

That faction is only in one system and only controls that one settlement, which is currently in the Bust state (not active). As a pirate faction you might find then in planetary POI, but as Codger says I don't do those missions so I don't know if those count.

Thank you. I tried looking at the different systems and then finally looked at Inara (but really didnt see why i would have to use a 3rd party). Anyhoo yes! 1 system and 1 settlement. Ill try scanning some planets next

You (ok, I) could integrate this with "immersion" by pretending that Inara (and similar sites) are part of the informal pilot's network - you talk at the bar, read a few notice boards, ask the guy at the comissary or the hotelö's breakfast buffet, chat on CB,...

And in fact they are, as all of the data on those sites has been contributed by CMDRs. That's neither obtainewd through some back channels from FD nor from data mining the game files - all of it has been collected by people playing the game and uploading the data to the communal database, usually by running tools like EDMC or EDDiscovery in the background while playing.

I'm given to understand that if you go into your ship and look for irregular markers or other temporary planetside POIs, there will be members of the target faction there for you to shoot.
