Galnet got me dead to rights

From the recent Galnet article about the rush of ships trawling the wreckage of Titan Cocijo now that the caustic cloud has dispersed:

"... Some seek to claim a trophy of this military victory, while others seek to gain knowledge of Thargoid technology. Others still have been seen posing for selfies, using external camera modules...”

Sooo... I was doing all three of these things that Galnet listed (and maybe you were too)

They got our number...

Probably bits of broken Titan that are floating around that can be stored in a carrier or materials inventory but with limited other use like TDCs.
Ahhhh. I got loads of that rubbish in my FC. Useless, but don't want to sell them in case some new game feature uses them.
Would have been good if fdev added ultra rare drops that you can turn into a bobblehead or ship kit...now that's more trophy-esk than bits you dump into a FC cargo hold.

Neither trophies, nor pictures... on my end, at least.

"Understanding Thargoid technology", well, call back on that one when we finally get a purpose for the hull debris that can be knocked off and picked up. Assuming that it passes the 'if' stage... considering how infrequent CGs have become. We only had 9 last year (by separate occurrences, aka not counting double sided delivery/bounty hunting ones or similar). At least if my sleepy brain counted correctly. And two of those were relatively unimportant to the actual outcome, in case of the Shinrarta invasion and then Sol, only acting to deliver rewards to players.

Before we had 'muh colonization planet probing' (no offense intended) on Thursday, I thought this article might have been hinting we would finally see that Titan salvage CG that has been floating around as a light haze for months now. I guess it might still happen following the end of that current CG, or still after the colonizing update drops. Otherwise I just gave out a lot of free billions to people to give (sell, of course) some of that stuff to my carrier from the Cocijo wreck.

Pretty much! 😂

You know, I’d be very amused if someone once was in the process of taking a picture of the dead Titan when it suddenly begins to rebuild itself.

I doubt that will happen, but it would be funny. And be the easiest way for Frontier to get “more” Titans without having additional ones head in from far away.

(You could also put any Titan name into that meme, really)

… and I guess “selfie” will still remain as an used term into the 34th century.

There is one... its called Titan Drive Component, lol.

TDC are preety much one and only "ultra rare" drops on titans remains - and can be consider both as trophy and something that have actuall use...
Selling such might be viable "carrer choice" for some, I recon its about 30 millions per each, still would find buyer or two in any time as there is quite demand according to Inara - but no one sells it right now, and when does, I can safely guess its selling fast.

Thats it, until once corrosive gas wears out, the spawn rate of TDC, goes down by a lot, and by with it, fun factors went down as well, and spending hours to find only one or two, just to sell it later in some random FC, its not really efficent at all, far as "profit per hour" concern goes.
Majority of cmdrs who finds it, rather keeps them for themselfs to trade for those juicy FSD's, especially with current drop rates.

In "fresh" titan remains, with corrosives being still active, I could find one every 10-15 mins, and fill entire size 4 cargo rack with those, in like 2-3 hours. Spending few hours in such, would always yield several TDC's in cargo hold, and it was quite intresting "salvage" experience, because being in caustic cloud all the time kinda forced to collect and use those caustic sinks and refills, wich made entire thing felt more meaningfull, and had that real "hazardous" vibe about it.

And yes, there was not as many npcs around (atleast in Cocijo) who would clutter scanner and local (chat) feedback, but in older wreckages thargoids could spawn in, but that no longer apply, since they left bubble for good, it seems.

Now? Ever since gas faded out in last titan, Cmdrs can consider being quite lucky if finds just one of TDC's, in within 2-3 hours of flying around dead titan.
From fun and quite intresting, it went to straight up boring chore, that is to find TDC's now in those remains, and whenever another cmdr appear in same instance, the amount of npcs seems to double... the only good thing from those npcs that sometimes an wanted conda or python shows up, so atleast there is something to blow up, out of straight boredom (apart of other cmdrs of course )

In anyway, that Galnet article, kinda was late like 2-3 weeks. But I guess, better late than never.

The older wrecks do actually still spawn Thargoids (lone Interceptor and Scythes)*. Why Cocijo is the exception to that rule I'm not quite sure of, maybe Frontier did it to make the experience easy for newer players that may be poking the wreck. Or - if it isn't a more obscure and less good (for humans) reason - it's because it is the only Titan in a populated system... so far... and the Thargoids have no interest in contending with the Federal military to salvage the remains. If that is what the Thargoids even do there, which I'm not exactly sure they are, because other than the bio-pods containing humans they don't pick anything in those sites up.

*If they didn't change it on one of the last few weekly 'ticks'. It has been a while since my last visit to one of the Titan wrecks outside Sol.

I see, had not been anywhere else than Cocijo in many months (I think Ive only visited the very first dead titan, other than Cocijo), so I assumed that is same for all of wrecks, since conflict is kind of gone out of bubble.

Its probly this... as makes quite of sense, it being next to rather heavy populated system, the heart of Federation, noneless.

Yeah, with all titans dead who came to bubble, why thargoids still bother with bio-pods, its mystery, but its safe to guess thats its simply leftover for thier behavior scripts, rather anything meaningfull... but who knows...

I wonder if spawn rate for TDC's is same for older wrecks where thargoids can still spawn, or its same for all, since all of them are in thier "last" stage, without any caustic gas.
