Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

What is it that SC content creators get for promoting their referral code? I don't actually know.

## Update on the 2024-2025 Restructure
According to multiple sources, CIG continues to cull a number of roles throughout the company - reportedly axing what used to be entire departments and putting their roles under the responsibility of the folks who remain, such as secretaries. There is word that people who have accepted relocation have been let go despite accepting the transition. While it's not yet confirmed how many folks have potentially been let go, I would venture to guess it's in the low dozens based off the number and variety of layoffs I've been privvy to. I'll continue to update as information comes in - feel free to message me if you have some yourself. My condolences to those who have been suddenly affected.

Just got pointed to some interesting data GrieferNET have been collating...

They & ~15 other orgs are tracking their kills, including account age:

February's only just getting going, but that breaks down to ~16% of accounts encountered being under a year old.

Apparently the % of new accounts encountered dropped in share over the Nov-Feb period (although it's tricky to parse that out from the historical chart).

Definitely a 'veteran' community all told though.

Interesting that 95% of veteran backers are almost all solidly in the Sceptic/Heretic group, outside of that, my favourite reply in that thread...

I'm at level Elite: Dangerous.

As for me, it's no big secret that I'm squarely in the Heretic bracket drifting more into Hater every patch...have been for years :)

And I presume that does not take into account veteran players multiple accounts, some of which may be quite recent.
Not many people making new alts these days, there's not enough working game content to justify one account far less several alts...besides, there's hundreds of folk who can't log in at all on any account due to broken shards or just stopped playing due to missing account locked gear or ships. I haven't been able to log in for a week (since the 4.01 hotfix patch) but I'm still playing the real game and ship shuffling with store credit. Melted most of my standalone ships to store credit...mainly to shove the interesting ones into buyback since I won't be playing until this clusterfarce is at least 'working' (probably never at this stage)... sold a couple of rarer offerings on the grey market too. :)

Its quite funny because for years we saw many posts people saying they were leaving ED for SC but over the last few months there's been quite the uptick of comments about people leaving SC for ED. At one point just saying you were playing ED on Spectrum/SC subreddit would get you dogpiled, but now not seeing that. Same in YT comments.

I know it shouldn't be an either or thing and just because X is bad doesn't make Y good or vice versa, but still an interesting trend.

The "exodus" thing has always been a bit of a myth that some content creators or other vested interests had tried to push as a narrative etc. The truth is we have seen as many testimonials of people moving from SC to ED over the years, if not more, as the other way around. Many of those we have posted here. Once you get rid of gaslighting in those testimonials for the most par it is the same kind of audience at the end of the day.

But it is true it seems we are seeing many more testimonials of SC players switching back to ED as of late. Which would be supported by the last years uptick increase in Elite player concurrency averages. On the other hand SC has been dropping around 25% concurrency in the last couple of years.
