Imperial Explorer

The only thing ganking an explorer is high G

An ounce of preparation prevents a pound of pain.

You have a point, I am currently out in the Abyss testing my newly built Mandalay, and have nearly died only once.

Culprit: an inviting layout of canyons and my lust for velocity.

Associated issues: 5A dirty drag drives and Mandalay's excellent acceleration and handling characteristics. (Possibly related, family intervention at critical juncture.)

Saviour: 4A Prismatic and OE boosters also fitted, saving the day.

Conclusions:

My souped up thrusters and shields can be explained as "open ready" or "anti gank", and would indeed serve that purpose. More realistically they let me have fun planet side, and occasionally save me from myself.

I feel your pain, i mistimed a Neutron jump near Beagle this morning, AFMU to the rescue lol

Seems we're close(ish) to each other.

My "shakedown" cruise, has thus far taken me to Colonia, to change a pin, onto Sag A* for old times sake, forward to a random pin North of there, and now 7k short of Beagle.

A longer cruise than I anticipated, but I'm thinking I might visit Salomé's rest after Beagle (the news Drew might write something for a potential DW3 has made me dwell on lore lately) and return to the bubble via the spiral arm if I can work out a route plot.

In mental health news I am happy to report that my onboard psychiatrist Mr Flibble assures me that all is well, and that the twitching is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

He also says I look fabulous in Gingham, so suck it fashion police.

Been so long since I tried a high G landing I feel I wouldn't dare, respect for that ( returned PS5 pilot, but only 2 months ago).

Does remind me to go practice up before DW3, way too much data onboard to risk it atm :)

I love using the Courier for exploring. Though I use my FC as a base so haven't worried about range - I built it for speed instead.

Nice build for the Courrier, well done.

My Imperial Explorer is a Clipper, jumping 60ly, it took me to Sag-A* already. Really love it.

I love to see Clipper appreciation, but my best girl without her guns and her armour?

It's ok, we can rethink, lightweight frags? Lightweight fast regeneration shield, enough hull, it's workable.

I also have a Clipper full of deadly Pack Hounds :)
And two miner Clipper
And a material collector Clipper
And many more, 9 Clippers in total....

Also, recently almost all builds posted on the forums have training wheels still installed...my brain just doesn't understand why :(

TBH, the reason my iCourier has an ADC installed is simply 'cos there was nothing else I wanted to bung in a C1 slot and I really, really like using the external camera to watch it try to land.

For those who haven't tried it, sometimes it's like the docking computer can't control a really fast ship and it just flies straight downward, pitches up at the last moment and then pancakes onto the pad, taking most of the shield with it.

Some of us didn't really earn our Clippers but instead got them during the royal wedding when the rank requirements for Imperial ships were temporarily lifted as part of the celebrations.
I have one clipper and one clipper only no-matter how many I would like. As a filthy peasant I am not authorized to purchase another. If anything should happen to my one clipper and I lack insurance, I shall become clipperless, unable to replace it 😄😂😅🥲😢😭

Best girl deserves better than dirty rocks :(
But she's so good at it!

On searching Galnet for the details, it looks like the Clipper rank relaxation actually happened the week before the wedding, and was celebrating the emperor coming out of a coma from a failed assassination attempt... his marriage was announced the following week (so the rank relaxation was still in effect) but the wedding prompting more assassination attempts, this time successful. A busy month for the Empire. Or was rank also relaxed in celebration of another wedding and I'm looking at the wrong one?

Oh, "low emissions" with "monstered", I must try that!
I can recommend it, a underrated combination that will keep your ship running cool while also giving good power. No need to go Low Emissions 5, just do enough that you'll have sufficient power for the systems you'll keep running with Monstered. :)
