DLC 19 Speculation

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. If you mean that Frontier could try to match what they did last year (5 bundles + 2 new DLCs + console version with deluxe bundle), then they would need to launch (Australia+South America / Oceania+Eurasia / Barnyard+Zokeeper / new 4th bundle / new 5th bundle), but to make 2 new bundles they would need to launch new 4 dlcs, not just 2. The 2 extra DLCs that we didn't get last year could be the equivalents of the console version itself.

EDIT for clarification of what I mean:

2024
2025
1 – Console version1 – Australia + South America
2 – Deluxe bundle (Wetlands and South East Asia)2 – Eurasia + Oceania
3 – Europe and North America3 – Barnyard + Zookeper’s
4 – Aquatic + Twilight4 – PC DLC 1
5 – Africa + Grasslands5 – PC DLC 2
6 – Arid + Tropical6 – Bundle DLC 1 + DLC 2
7 – Arctic + Conservation7 – PC DLC 3
8 – Barnyard8 – PC DLC 4
9 - Zookeper’s9 – Bundle DLC 3 + DLC 4
I see this possible! With this I can see in march releasing the last 2 dlcs for pc before console version. And this year releasing 2 bundles with zookeeper, barnyard and the 2 remaining dlcs. Maybe after this will release new dlcs at the same time for console and pc, if we surpass 20 dlcs.

If you could add 10 fish species as exhibit animals for the next DLC, what would you pick?
I have gone for two separate lists, the first for ten freshwater and estuarine species that all regularly live in single-species tanks:
  1. Red-bellied piranha
  2. Vari's electric eel (the most widespread of the three electric eel species, and the only one kept in captivity)
  3. Largescale four-eyed fish
  4. Prehistoric monster fish
  5. Giant freshwater pufferfish
  6. Atlantic mudskipper
  7. Freshwater butterflyfish
  8. Fire eel
  9. Rainbow snakehead
  10. Banded archerfish
The other option I have picked is for ten Indo-Pacific reef fish that can all live together in a mixed aquarium:
  1. Azure demoiselle
  2. Banggai cardinalfish
  3. Black tip sole
  4. Blue-green chromis
  5. Copperband butterflyfish
  6. Harlequin filefish
  7. Mandarinfish
  8. Ocellaris clownfish
  9. Randall's shrimp goby (perhaps with the candy pistol shrimp coming with it as a freebie - the two species naturally share a burrow)
  10. Tiger-tail seahorse

So I've come back after two months away from the forums and the Internet in general, and I find . . . no Planet Zoo news at all? Are we seriously having another wait period as long as the one between Barnyard and Zookeepers? Has Frontier said anything at all about the next DLC other than that we're getting one?

PZ is scheduled to get talked about on the unlocked stream on the 26th. No guarantee ofcourse they anounce or tease a new dlc, but decent chance

When do they usually drop the agenda for the Unlocked and/or update the description where they specify what topics will be covered?

I keep going back-and-forth on this. The other day I was assuming they'd just be focusing on console this time around and we might get a reminder that there's a PC DLC in the works while making us wait another month for a teaser. With that thought I was leaning into the Easter weekend thing and assuming they wouldn't give us a teaser and then wait make us wait ~2 months before release. That would both be out-of-character and really poor planning...

But, then again, the SteamDB depot is getting updated pretty late into the day pretty consistently even after that last minor update. Historically, the frequent/late in the day updates have been a sign that a DLC is coming. Easier to tell when we saw the outsource_lqa. But between the frequent updates and a March drop being the same distance between DLCs as the last two (~4.5 months) I'm starting to think we'll see something in March again and the Easter drop might be something more unexpected.

Maybe my life just got busier, but it really has felt like no time has passed at all. Maybe I’m also just less excited for a new DLC? I’m sure if they tease some news I’ll probably flip my script.

Yeah idk maybe life goes faster in the summer with the holidays and all but tbh it didn't feel such a long wait like it was between Barnyard and ZK, but i guess there was a huge anxiety factor with that one since we pretty much thought it was going to be the very last one and a lot of us were coming from a HUGE dissapointment with Barnyard so a lot of expectations were put into the next possibly final DLC.

Welcome back
Nothings changed. we still argue about dlcs and what animals deserve to be in them. We frequently bring up how monkeys and birds are underrepresented. Occasional change of topic but usually everything winds back at some point.
I think we all are hoping frontier gets PZ back on the typical March, June, September, December routine. Plus with the unlocked coming up, this is the first time we can hear anything. I really am hoping we don’t have anymore ridiculous wait times like last year.

I think this time of year just tends to go by slower because there's just not much going on. Because it hasn't even been the same amount of time between Eurasia/Barnyard or Barnyard/Zookeeper yet! But the wait for more information is right around the corner. If it's not next week then it'll probably be next month... Which isn't very long in the grand scheme of things.

I was gonna say this semester has really ramped up for me, time is moving by so quick!

My main desire, even if I don’t think I’m gonna be terribly excited for the new pack, is that they do what they did for ZooKeeper at the very least. Give us a teaser image, let us dissect it pixel by pixel. That was a lot of fun, even if the DLC wasn’t exactly how it turned out it felt good to truly speculate again over just hoping what could come next.

Whether it's this month or next, I'm hoping they take a similar approach with the teaser image as well. Discussion around that last one got super contentious but it was still fun! And most everybody got the theme wrong (though, TBH, I might argue that "celebration" or whatever was close enough--and arguably might fit the pack better given the scenery we go).

I am pretty convinced, though, that if they tease something like that then the pack will be here within a month. I just don't see them teasing something like that and just letting it go for another month without releasing something...

Another option for this month, though, if they don't tease anything about the new DLC: They could reveal something about the update and say they'll have more info on that DLC in the coming weeks. That's a nice middle ground if we will have to wait until April.

Also can anyone send me the meta wishlist breakdown for ZooKeeper and previous packs? I want to do something and see what those past animals were placed at.
Do you mean where the animals were in the meta wishlist when the packs were released? That might be a struggle but I'm sure somebody can find that. Haha.

From my recollection, though, ever since Wetlands the packs have leaned heavily into the meta wishlist with the #1 or #2 animal (usually #1 though there's exceptions). Then another 1-2 animals from the top 10, 1-2 more from the top 20-25, and the oddballs.

In the main run of DLCs, Arid was the only one that stands out as a big deviation and even that had the #1 pick (porcupine), a strong top 10 pick (sand cat), and two animals people have been asking for since launch (black rhino, camel). And to this day I remain convinced they thought those four picks were going to drive the entire thing. Barnyard obviously didn't have any meta picks and Zookeeper didn't have any species in the top 3 but had ~2-3 from the top 10 and at least 1-2 more from the top 20. They didn't ignore the wishlist completely but... It didn't drive it the way it used to. Which is suspicious to me, TBH (see also: them letting the devil sit at #1 for two packs because Oceania).

I'm sure somebody can provide better, more concrete data and prove at least some of this wrong but this is my recollection of things and I feel reasonably confident in it. LOL

One thing we'll need to factor in though, as we move into 2025, is that whatever pack is coming next probably wouldn't factor in the 2025 wishlist just yet because it had been in development for a while.

Yeah I want to see the original placement of the animals before the packs came out, I wanted to start making “potential upcoming DLC” using the animals in the top 50. Though what you said might help me narrow it down a lot. I have to do some anesthesia today and I know I’m gonna be too mentally dead to study more. I thought it would be fun to try and make some “realistic” Frontier DLCs and see what comes up.

I think if you assume the top #1 or #2 are going to make it in, assume at least one other from the top 10, a couple from the top 11-20, and then assume a few oddballs that feels pretty reasonable. I would also use the 2024 wishlist instead of the new 2025 one because they had started develop before that wishlist dropped for sure.

Ugh god Frontier please stop with the oddballs already. Top 30 only please 🥲
