Why did we need the Fer-de-Lance? The Vulture? The Chieftain? The Corvette? And so on. A lot of the ships are there for this same reason: variety.
Having only one SCO-stabilized ship per role would be quite boring anyway.

The ARX ships that they added fill a niche. I don't see the point of another explorer unless it's large and has some benefits.

So let me get this straight.

We're going to be getting a new ship before we get fixes to PowerPlay, is that it?

Escape pods and rare trading is going to remain disabled?

You're going to keep overlooking the fact that missions don't count for squat in powerplay except in the cases of donations and "restore settlement" missions? No merit rewards for things like "deliver cargo" or "assassinate known pirate" or "source commodity"?

You're going to keep overlooking the fact that effort spent uploading malware, hacking holographic adverts, and stealing powerplay goods is not worth the reward?

You're going to keep overlooking that powerplay completely neglects passenger missions?

You're going to keep overlooking that trading commodities ought to be based on commodity demand rather than price, to encourage people to ship goods other than gold, silver, tritium and palladium?

About half of their SCO ships so far have been like they were from that one post I once made on a suggestion thread. Type-8 is spot on and Mandalay isn't exactly what I meant, but has all the features I listed. Therefore I feel emboldened to say this is likely to be effectively medium pad Clipper. It might also be medium pad Orca or a new ship that takes on roles of both.
A new medium or large passenger ship could make sense if one of the ways to supply a new claimed system is to transport colonizers.

So they're not allowed to talk about new content until they've fixed the powerplay bugs? Seems like an odd way to do business to me.

Personally I'll be waiting for next week's patch notes before commenting on what they have or haven't fixed there, because why would they talk about that before then? "We're fixing bugs" is a really boring status update.

Have you ever seen a construction yard/bay for the non-capital class ships in Elite?

Because I’m pretty sure that’s what this represents. Not “base building”.

Why did we need another ship after they added the Cobra Mk4? You can't improve on perfection!
While I’m not going to say I’m in agreeance with the idea that there needn’t be more ships of a certain type after those initial four ARX-ess ones, I do think having an explorer again after an explorer and multirole might be a bit quick. Then again, this is up to Frontier anyway.

but these guys here
Could be skimmers assisting in construction, see how they carry metal plating…
Oooh, everyone's speculating about a new ship, but what if it isn't?
… but I have seen people theorize this could potentially be a ground vehicle. Not that I expect it.

Not necessarily .
All we have is the usual silence from FDev about most of what is in an update until the update is actually released, and sometimes not even then. Plus we have this tease which people are speculating about much as they did about the Mandalay and probably just as accurately.

If they haven’t got a fix yet then probably.

Even if I did PP I wouldn’t know as doing missions is a rarity for me.

Maybe.

I'm going to go against the flow. I don't want a medium Gutamaya. Not yet. We already have the medium class covered in SCO ships. We've gone without a medium Gutamaya this long. We can wait a little longer. I want a large SCO. I want a Cutter II.

Besides, the medium Gutamaya problem needs to be solved by clipping the Clipper. No other solution is acceptable.

ETA: OK, I'm lying. If this were a clipped Clipper with an SCO harness I would dance a jig. That would make me almost as happy as a new Large.

It's not the talking about new content I'm bothered by; it's the utter lack of talking about addressing powerplay issues that have been in place for months now, unresolved.

I'm not saying one has to come before the other; I'm saying I just want some acknowledgement that they are aware of unresolved issues and that they are being addressed.

The exploits related to Escape Pods and Settlement Data (For context, it was possible to download unlimited amounts of settlement data at the start of PowerPlay 2.0), and the immense rewards for trading rare goods were raised at the same time and all were disabled at the same time. The Settlement Data exploit was fixed within one week. Escape Pods and Rare Good trading still has not been fixed, in nearly 5 months.

The other stuff I mentioned is stuff I'd like to see addressed because there truly is an imbalance in reward schemes for a lot of powerplay activities that, in my opinion, should not exist.

And this topic is just about new ship, not PowerPlay.

Who said these are exactly the same persons? What kind of acknowledgment do you need? I think everythning was said about that, we just need patience...

And noone talk about that in threads about PP2.0?

Thread closed. No dev discussion.
No dev discussion beyond the announcement.

I will speak in whatever thread I have to, in order to get a dev to talk about these issues.

At this point, an acknowledgement that issues that should have been resolved within weeks still existing months later, to prove to us they haven't forgotten.

As for patience, I believe I've been sufficiently patient. It ended weeks ago.

Ah... so you really expect to have an answer directly from FDev in other topic. Got it.

A couple of random thoughts:-

Firstly, the best passengers ships are usually not actual "passenger" ships.
Secondly, "passenger" ships usually feature extremely mediocre hardpoints.

Basically, what I'm saying is, if we're getting a new "imperial" ship, I'd prefer it came from the Gutamaya factory than the Saud Kruger factory.
If they could manage to smush an iCourier and a Clipper together and update the styling a little bit, in the same way as the Mandy' and CM5, I'll be first in the queue.

I suppose it might also be worth mentioning that, while a lot of people are moaning about the lack of any new Imp' ships, the offerings from Core Dynamics are equally stale.
In their day, the Fed' "piggies" were... adequate but it'd be nice if there was a medium Fed' ship with more contemporary design.
