Fleet Carrier Jump Distance Limitations

Currently we are limited to 500ly max per jump. Why?

I have 1,000T of Tritium in the tank and 21,000T of Tritium in the Fleet Carrier hold.

Why can't I jump from the Bubble to Colonia in one jump instead of bunny hops? Ok, I accept it will take some time to get from B to C but I rarely stay logged in when my carrier is jumping. No, I'm not going to sit around grooming myself waiting. Repairs? I have 6 billion spare..

So why do you believe a FC can make 10 jumps at once? It's a game works both ways. Since you accept that explanation just accept that it's a game that works that way. 🤷‍♂️
Because the 500ly restriction as a game function is an ambit figure. 5,000 or 10,000 are also ambit figures.

I want to explore the galaxy not hop around like a demented bunny rabbit.

Your analogy is sophistic, also ED is a game. A gun can only fire one round at a time even a gatling gun.
Ever heard of Metal Storm? Or even any old multiple barrel design?

But on topic, the 500ly is close to standard jump range to megaships established even before carriers were in the game, so it's consistent at least. They don't want traveling around the galaxy be too trivial, especially not with these huge mobile bases.

However, I do agree that it's really annoying to try to do multiple jumps and wish there was a way to automate a chain of jumps at least for the amount of tritium in the bunker. I don't mind that it takes time, but having to log in to plot a new jump, log out and wait, or just sit there, is really a drag. I know some players choose to let the carrier jump ahead and explore the systems in between. I did that too, but it got old.

But 500 is the figure chosen by FDev, 10,000 is just a figure chosen by you…

If you want to explore the galaxy why do you want to skip over so much of it at a time?
If you are exploring all/most of the intermediate systems of that 10k jump do you actually need the FC?

Well I would like to have an option to order Colonia jump or something like that and wait for it to be done in a week time. If someone wants to explore while doing <500ly jumps that is fine but why not allow longer jumps with a lot longer charge time? I see no reason to say why not- it would also lessen burden or servers due to decreased number of hops made by FCs. Not to mention such capability would open path for nice features in the future, like jumping to nearby dwarf galaxy orbiting Milky Way, distant stars that managed to leave our galaxy due to various past events, etc.

Same reason we use 6 sided die for monopoly and not 20 sided ones. Because thems the rules set by the creator of the game.

Anyway, given that I bought my carrier in Jaques station and I'm currently resident in the bubble, it's not like you can't make those trips. Part of the whole attraction of Colonia is being a good distance from the weirdness that goes on in the bubble.

Wasn't it able to shoot next bullet while the previous was still in the barrel at max rate?
It could also IIRC fire a round from all the barrels simultaneously, much like some of the older organ guns did though that was less ‘programming’ and more all the fuses lit at the same time.

Its all sci-fi made-up technology for a game. Instead of fleet carriers for travel, Frontier could have introduced portals that allow us to zip immediately across the galaxy. Perhaps our ships could have TARDIS capability where we just punch in the coords and off we go.

I believe the vision of the game is players are supposed to fly ships. Not beam themselves directly to destinations.

Sure, but that doesn't explain why I can't jump the distance or further.
By combining all 9 bullets into one... the same gun should be able to shoot 9 times farther?

If we pack 10x more gunpowder into an old-time cannon, it can successfully shoot a cannon ball 10x farther?

Edit:
A more realistic argument for your desire is why can't the fleet carrier crew do various tasks for you? Like zipping your carrier across the galaxy on a programmed route while you are logged off. Obvious answer: because then you just have automated bots playing the game while you are logged off. Its not the vision of the game.
