Right On Commander! Some nice things happened during gameplay yesterday. I captured my first ship which I then sold for 120,000. And I also ascended in Rating!
The capture system was just available for purchase, but since buying it I haven't seen it available again. When I saw it available, that was the first time I'd seen it so I snapped it up. It was pretty soon after arriving in Galaxy 14 I think, right after a Supernova mission.Hmmm, I’m not sure what I’m missing in my game then - I’ve just been to a tech level 19 planet (the highest level in the Galaxy map I’m in, and there’s only one of them) and it stocks all the high level Naval stuff but no ship capture system. I wonder if I have to scoop the Thargoid equipment first?
Edit: scooped another cloacking (sic) device last night which I hadn’t got around to purchasing for the Python. Hopefully whatever flag is needed for the SCS to become available will be set at some stage and I’d just missed it while in the Cobra.
I’m in Galactic Map 24 and haven’t seen the capture system or had the Thargoid War mission - I think I’ll start jumping back to the early maps to see if I can trigger whatever I missedThe capture system was just available for purchase, but since buying it I haven't seen it available again. I think the “certain progress of the game” is where it’s going wrong for me - there has been some event or mission that hasn’t triggered.Take a look here:
Chrome will translate it for you.
Thankfully I had about 15 Tharglets in my hold when I scooped up the computer so I was able to try it out straight away - I’ve found you can target the same ship multiple times. Most Tharglets I’ve managed to launch on one enemy is three before they zapped it. Makes a good option to launching a missile at a Stealth Thargoid, as you say.Yeah, brace yourself!
I've been on that for a few days now. Have been promoted once. It's not immediately clear what needs doing but I'm muddling through.
With the Thargoid computer, use D to switch modes and you'll see the mew option only when you are carrying Alien Items. You basically lock on target and fire the Alien Item which then fires and fights on your behalf. When the target is destroyed the Alien Item then returns to tiur cargo hold automatically carge-drone style, without any intervention! You will find these very handy for dealing with the sleath Thargoids you are about to encounter!
I was unfortunate in my first Galaxy 8 system - it was a Multi-Government so a high spawn rate for encounters. I had to jump away to a different system where eventually I managed to get to the station. No evacuation mission yet, but I’ll try to choose high tech systems for the jump gatesYour first few missions in the war are to rescue refugees which, just like the nova mission, replaces and cargo you have. I've found it good tactics therefore to draw out the destruction of the first thargoid encountered in a new system to make it spit out a few Tharglets which can be collected. You can also use jump gates quite successfully in systems that have them.
I’ve never seen a Tech 20 planet, 19 is the highest I’ve seen and there was only one at that level in that Galaxy map.Back in Galaxy 8 now, and have managed to destroy 5 occupied stations by using jump gates, firing an ECM hardened missile whilst cloaked. It's pretty easy really. I then hyperspaced away and docked at another station. When I checked the local map data the system still showed as occupied. I wonder if it's necessary to destroy any military and repair stations too?
Also wondering if there are any ships tougher than the Anaconda, and are there any Tech 20 planets I don't know about, or is 19 the highest tech level?
If the translation I read was correct, then the Thargoid base is in deep space near the system of that planet. It might be possible to fly out of a nearby system, transit deep space and find the base that way instead of jumping to the target system and trying to fight your way out of it.Okay.
I've been promoted twice and am now Colone;. The mission is to destroy the Thargon command base which is my game is "near the planet ISRI"
Predictably, ISRI does not have a jump gate.
I've tried this several times now and keep coming up against the impenetrable wall of 6-7 Thargoid ships which all appear at once. I've tried different tactics and even tried going around but can't even make a dent before I get shredded. It's getting a bit boring now to be honest so I'm looking for hints, or maybe even a poke to give me the thrgoid energy unit and laser.
Bah.
