Okay for the love of...... would someone please tell me......

Just play CQC, it’s easy.

What?
Sarcasm, ok?
Yeah did that in the military and elsewhere already, have done some in the game but your right should do more, so cr for cqc missions, lol okay, works for me.....

What? Sarcasm ok?.....right here......"at billions(seriously, lol yeah right)".....lol......

So with an fc you can set your own trade prices?, then theoretically (although its probably already been prevented), couldnt you just take a high price commodity set the price low to nothing then fill up your cargo hold with it, then reset the price back up so youre not giving it away and fly your cargo somewhere the price is really high for a profit and then wash, rinse, repeat?

You have to buy something to sell something :D So you cannot make money out of the air for sure. But, what you say will have negative impact on the system where carrier is located (probably that was fixed). This means, economical state of the system will go bad, because somebody trades with negative values. And 1-2 weeks later it would bring the pirates there ;)

I made enough with a Booze Cruise but it's hard work and takes a long time :)

  • load ~20kt of cheap wine and 5k Tritium. that's about 25-30 trips with a large freighter ship
  • jump the carrier up to Rackham's Peak. that's a minimum of 6h jumping the carrier every 20 minutes. hope that there is a slot available in the last bottleneck system
  • wait for the system to go into public holiday. it usually happens once per month but that is not guaranteed
  • unload 20kt of wine within 48 hours to an outpost with one medium pad. that's about 50-70 trips in Python or Type 8 and there's always an NPC just landing on the pad when you come in

That should make about 4-6 billions in one large grind. The life of a sole trader with a large truck.

Do this and you won't want to set foot on you FC again for months.

You will earn a heap of credits but... y'know.

Personally, I reckon the best way to earn the big bucks is just to look out for opportunities.

Most of my time, in ED, I'm just doing stuff I want to do and, honestly, I earn almost nothing.
Once in a while I like to explode stuff so I head for a Pirate POI, CNB or Hazres and spend a few hours making stuff go boom.
That earns me a few million credits and pays my FC Upkeep for a few weeks.

Once in a while a gold-rush or CG will come along that gives you an opportunity to earn the big bucks.
In the last CG, for example, I earned half a billion for hauling cargo, another half a billion for exploding criminals and then got paid a little over half a billion for doing it.
So, that 2 weeks gives me enough credits to pay for the Upkeep of my FC for 3 years.

Looking at the INARA log of my finances, it just stays the same for months after month and then, a couple of times a year, there's a bit of a spike where I earn a couple of billion credits one way or another.
You just have to keep your eyes open and take opportunities that are presented.

Last week, I stumbled across a couple of stations - 1 jump apart in my CMV (loaded) - IIRC while I was running missions to upgrade my Sirius faction rep. One was selling some mineral at rock bottom price, the other was buying at top dollar with enough demand so that my CMV's cargo space wouldn't trigger the volume tax. Made easily 700k per trip with the spare cargo space left after putting in the mission cargo.
Wasn't the only one - saw at least one CMDR in a T-9 every time I entered the "sell to" station, but they couldn't have possibly picked up the stuff at "my" other end, as that was an outpost.

The only time I made billions quickly was a CG selling Tritium at a silly price, and having a FC full of (stolen) Tritium...

Otherwise can make a couple of 100's million doing space CZ (with shared missions) as a team of 4.

I'm sure there are other ways, or so people claim, but, if it ain't fun, I ain't doing it.
How did you steal tritium?
Thanx

You robber NPC traders using interdiction, hacking cargo modules. Than sell it to the black markets, or install one on carrier and sell to the carrier, which will make it clean. Than you can pick it from the storage and sell elsewhere at good price.
Also you can take mission "deliver OUR 3000t of the Tritium to elsewhere" and you deliver it to own carrier over black market. However, now, you will get fee for full price. So this way you will not earn too much of the credits.
