LIFETIME Expansion pass, and Python Mk2

They haven’t gone as far as ship interiors and earth like worlds yet.
It's not an Alpha anymore. We can fly more than 10 light years, we can land on planets, with or without some atmosphere. We can play in squadrons, engineer ships, build stations next to white Dwarfs inside the exclusion zone. We can fly, drive across vast landscapes, see beautiful views. Travel to distant worlds, kill aliens, mourn over the dead Guardians. I could go on. Oh and we have fun as a Squadron making our own...stuff up.

Remind me what is it you want?

As the Babylon 5 commander John Sheridan said when asked for yet more. "Do you want Mayo with that?" 😀

The technology isn't there yet. Who knows maybe they will sometime soon. I personally would have a functional game than the alternative.

People who bought the LTP have been pretty much scammed by FD. The ships are paid DLC and should be made available for the LTP. 'Lifetime Pass' ? ... FD don't appear to have a grasp on English. LTP are just maligned by people in this forum for demanding what they are legitimately entitled to, and that really is the cherry on top of the crude cake, UK style.
I've got the LTP and I don't feel scammed. If they'd put in some Pay to Win Mechanics then yes, there would be a right to be aggrieved, but they haven't done anythng of the sort.

I got Horizons, Beyond and Odyssey as part of the package, so far, and I can get access to all the new ships without paying an extra penny (if I'm patient). There are the Paid For ships but lets be honest, if you got the LTP, you've probably already got better ships in your shipyard that what they have on offer. Those are Pay to Catch-up Ships not Pay to Win ships.

Since the Odyssey launch, we've had the Adamastor saga (i.e. the build up to the Thargoid war), the Thargoid war itself including new ships to fight, new things for the SRVs to fight, the thargoid spire sites, the Titans and the rescue extractions and destruct of the aforementioned Titans, Powerplay revamp and now Colonisation, all for free. I think people are grown up to realise that if development like that is going to continue, an alternative revenue stream is required, because selling copies via Steam or Epic ain't going to cut it.

You are of course entitled to your opinion on how you feel about this, but as you can see most don't feel the same way.

I was a day 1 Alpha backer and consider after 10 years I've certainly got my monies worth.

And could you pleasre in future not accuse FD of scamming their customer base.

Thanks.

So far you are incorrect, but if we get another expansion i can see some certain wording being used or compensation in ARX, to make people actually buy it. IMO

I don't see the issue. i have a LEP or LTP whatever you want to call it and i never expected to get ships for free. Why would i? I just expect he expansion for free. And i do, so i'm happy. I don't need ships for free, plenty of credits from playing and who cares what is on offer in ARX? Thats just cosmetics, hardly anything to demand.

Just be happy the game is still alive and kicking, now with colonization, soon who knows? And i get to experience all of it.

Because you've got all previous ships on the day of release without having to pay ARX.

there wasn't any arx, arx is a new thing. Previously all ships just came with the game and you had to only get the credits for them. Now, they add ships that are only obtainable with ARX, which is a new thing, but not something i assume to get for free simply because i have a LEP.

Your statement is not true: The added ships are in preview. You can buy them with in game credits after they move from preview period into regular release which is somewhat 3 months later.

Pre-built ships can also be built in the exact same configuration with in game credits and engineering. If one has a LEP, they have probably unlocked the relevant engineers and obtained the materials ages ago and those pre-built ships are not meta-builds which beat everything else. They are good, quite good but nothing which you can't engineer by yourself within a couple of hours.
The only thing locked behind ARX are ship kits and paint jobs but that has been since the start of ED (albeit direct purchase from the store).

I'm a lep holder, and i assume they're getting around the fine print by providing it for free later.

whether that's against the implied sale wording of the lep or not... meh. who has the energy to care at this point. it's not about getting your money's worth...nms has been able to do that without charging anyone extra money for updates ... it's a principle thing. i get that, but also, potentially fudging lep 10 years in is not really in my top 10 complaints with the game.

there's only so much energy available to invest in a game that's on its back half.

I dont view ARX for pre-built ships as a problem (and yes I have the LEP from my kickstarter "pirate" package a decade ago) - the reason is that there are plenty of things in the game you dont just get given e.g. modules etc that you have to unlock and you can unlock these ships a few months after they are in early paid access. I see it as someone paying now getting access earlier rather than someone who paid a decade ago being held back. Everyone can buy these ships with credits at some point.

On a side note, I bought the Mandalay Stellar and type 8 pre-built with arx and they are totally awesome, you can buy one with credits and leave the pre-built one as an emergency "spawn it when needed" which is so cool (arive in a system in my cutter and decide I would rather be in a medium ship with better handling, just swap at any station for free instantly, go do whatever and come back to swap back, sell the pre-built and have it avalaible to spawn anywhere in the galaxy, for free, anytime). If it means FDev makes enough money to continue to support ED for another few years, im all for it.

It's a brilliant system, really. All future paid DLC can be provided to LEP owners one hour before the servers shut down for good in 20 years time. 🤭

In the case of new ships, I think some LEP owners (myself included at one point) expected them to be given free at the same time as when offered in store for ARX, rather than wait behind a 'timewall'. But if one is getting access for free anyway, it's much simpler to rationalise and realise that no actual harm has been done tbh. :)

One is getting access at no additional cost. Everyone who has Odyssey has already paid for them, but is being asked to pay for them twice.
But I thought one would only pay twice if one had bought Odyssey and also wanted early access to ships rather than wait, or am I misunderstanding it? :)
