Is there a delay after abandoning a system colonization claim?

My current system has 4 days remaining and I have plans to abandon the system and reclaim it, unfortunately life smacked me in the face the past three weeks so there's that. When I abandon the system, will I have a delay before being able to reclaim it? And does that delay apply to just me, or every player?
I've heard different numbers between, it's a 3 day delay for just me and it's a 24 hour delay for everything and since this update is a mess with zero way to find official information I'm stuck asking everywhere until I can vaguely be sure the information is correct.

This is going to be the first time we reach the 4 week time limit so no one has any direct knowledge of how long things take.

It might even get hit by the delays affecting stations going on line.

Would be nice for them to just... tell us.
I've just abandoned my system and had a friend check to see it's status. For me it says unclaimable, for them it says still under construction.

Slightly different, but with my first system I chose a Coriolis and then saw how much was needed to complete it, so I abandoned it and was able to re-claim it almost immediately.

I've actually got the bug where I can't unclaim it for some reason. It expires in 12 hours anyway but I'm paranoid I'm going to loose it and I REALLY don't want to.

I am curious, did you have any build progress on the Coriolis? And did you have the system for very long before abandoning it? Did it cross a Thursday tick?

Well I got curious and did manage to catch a system in the act of the 4 week primary port timer expiring.

At first nothing happened - the timer just went away. The system still had the "under construction" style icon in the galaxy map. Jumping over to the system, the system colonization ship was still there, but upon docking it just offered regular (very limited) station services, not the construction ship delivery interface. About 15 minutes after the timer expired, the colonization ship decided to act like a carrier and jumped out, taking me with it to the origin system.

Going back to the galaxy map after that, the system then switched to the red X "invalid system" icon.

I just checked back a couple of hours after the timer expired. It's switched back to the green "claimable" indicator. Just to check I tried to claim it. The contact let me go through the usual primary port workflow, but the confirm button only yielded a "cannot be claimed" error message. On restarting the client, it's back to "invalid system" status.

So I don't know when or if you can claim a system after the timer expires, but it's not right away.

Mmmm, maybe it's not right away.
Given how flaky it all is, it's probably only safe to say that your test showed that it wasn't claimable right after the timer expired, but someone else (different account, different day, different weather??) might find the opposite...

I'd want to repeat that test after relogging.

FWIW last night I abandoned a claim on a system with the intention of reclaiming it with a more sane choice of Primary Port, and my experience so far has been identical to this.

Initially unavailable, and with the colonisation ship still present, the system changed to available again overnight but switched to unavailable / blocked as soon as I tried to complete a second claim on it this morning. The colonisation ship is gone, but the system is still showing as blocked for the account that made the original claim, and also for one of my alts based in the same location.

There were a couple of Mauve Adders this morning too, which may or may not be complicating the issue.

I'm just going to keep retrying it every few hours until it becomes available again, or someone else claims it. If it's a case of waiting for the original completion timer to expire, it'll be three weeks before it's available again. I'm hoping it's just a case of waiting for all the virtual servers to agree with each other, or at the very least for the weekly tick to occur.

In case it's relevant I had completed one delivery, 50T of something I can't even remember, to the colonisation ship prior to abandoning the claim.

FWIW follow-up: I tried to re-claim the system a handful of times throughout the day and it wasn't available until about 20:25 UTC, at which point the re-claim succeeded. The original claim was abandoned at about 20:55 UTC the previous day. Does this indicate an approximate 24-hour window, or is it coincidence? Just another data point for the curious.
