Frontier please continue working for consoles!

good afternoon, dear frontier, I want to express my gratitude for the game Elite Dangerous. I have been playing it for a very long time, including VR and with the steering wheel. I recently opened this game on PlayStation and I really liked it, much more than on the computer. It is much more pleasant to play on the couch and in front of a large TV, and the joystick control is just a song.

but there is no 4K and updates. I really ask you to resume work on the game on consoles (PS5)

Thanks for your answer, in general, of course, you can move the computer. But I have a separation (work room with a computer and a rest room with a receiver, projector, speakers and ps5. The computer doesn't look aesthetically pleasing to me.
plus with age you value comfort and time more. a computer is downloads, endless updates and pop-up messages, there is no such thing on the console, in the evening you come home from work, press one button and immediately play. therefore, I still ask the developers to restore service for consoles, at least PS5

I don’t agree, playing strategy games on a computer and games of other genres on PS5, I will say that the pleasure of playing on a console is much greater, there you get a different interaction with the game. As a person who works a lot, I appreciate moments of rest. If you compare an hour of playing on a computer and an hour of playing on a console, then the pleasure from playing on a console is greater. After work, I don’t even want to turn on the computer. This is my personal opinion.

Consoles have a lot of advantages over PC, most prominently no upkeep and maintenance. If I work 8 hours a day on a ty Windows machine, I am not going to use another ty Windows machine when wanting to relax and be playful. (And if you don't separate your work and play computers, well, let's say you will find out.)

PCs also have huge advantages over Consoles
most prominently no upkeep and maintenance
Which is why they become obsolete very fast, i can upgrade my PC

(And if you don't separate your work and play computers, well, let's say you will find out.)
I have 1 comp for work and 1 for gaming, the gaming PC boots up just as fast as my console

What upkeep? You mean elictricity? That's not exactly free for consoles either. My computer doesn't require "upkeep". And consoles have the same maintanence requirement of keeping them dust free, only it is much more complicated bordering impossible to open them and remove the dust.

No thanks, consoles held pc version back for years while fdev attempted to dev for both.
Once consoles got dropped we got improved content and visuals

If being back consoles means PCs suffer then no thanks,
All consoles have the one build , alas poor PC causes issues with all their variations. We had two years of no console work at the begining and the speed of fixes and new content was negligible .
But some still hold onto that belief .
Now also remember that we are working with reduced staff from the heady days.
I always take issue with this argument, but that's me .
Console is dead to FDev whilst there are many commanders still playing.
Fdev made a call because of Odysseys failure at the begining and now no longer have the dev base to take it further .

I think you're correct up to a point; don't forget that consoles helped fund development for the game so diluting development effort between gaming environments would have the progress made without console but the funding injection from extra sales on consoles would have helped accelerate progress.
I seem to remember that there was a dearth of content around the same time, and this forum was quite vocal in complaining about using so much development effort in what was to become odyssey and not other content for the game.

Seriously? How many windows updates do you have to run and reinstall certain drivers for peripherals, change the settings back to how you really want it because the update changed everything back to default. etc etc. None of this happens on a console. Fiddling with windows (what I call upkeep) is at least an hour or two per week. just suddenly stops working and you need to investigate why. Login again and again because your login expires. The list is long and while I accept all these things to do while I work and get paid, I do not accept it for my leisure time.

Funny. I just turn on my PC and play. One a week, when I shut it down, it tells me it needs to install some updates. Once every blue moon, maybe twice a year I upgrade my graphics driver. That's it. You don't need to micromanage a modern PC unless you really want to. And before you ask: Yes, I run a fair bit of peripherals both in hardware and software - VR, two sticks, extra wireless mouse and keyboard for the VR chair, a streamdeck XL, Voice Attack, ED Market Connector, NPCVocalizer, ED Hud Mod, sometimes ED Materials Helper, and always a web browser for third party websites. Beyond the scheduled updates none of these need any "upkeep". Now do that on a console. If you spend two hours per week on maintaining a working state for your computer, it is broken.

2 hours a week for windows admin is insane.

Neither my Dell laptop for work, or PC need anywhere near that amount of time, more like 5 mins when it shuts down or starts up.

What windows are you running @Enzeydad ?
Sounds like classic corporate security crippling. Probably with overly CPU intensive anti-virus, another CPU hog monitoring all your network traffic and another fighting with the first two to ensure update compilance, leaving you with 10% CPU to get any work done when your not swapping memory.

At home my 8yr old i5 was sooo much faster, gets on with its own updates without issue... and the 14600K upgrade, lightspeed.

I stopped playing PC in 2006, switched to Playstation and enjoyed the ease of the console. I thought exactly the same as you. Then in 2023 I bought a laptop for just over 1000 euros, booted it up (10 second boot time), downloaded games and connected it to the TV.

Started Elite on the PC last summer. Now I just switch it on and enjoy Elite in 4K on 65’. No difference to console.

Never actively downloaded drivers, no popups when playing games. It just runs.

Unfortunately it appears that FDev is set on not developing the game for consoles, and they have shown very little indication that they will ever change their minds.

Which is a shame, really. The biggest earnings from the game still come from direct sales (even after all the early-access-for-ARX stuff), so the latest version of the game for PS5 would certainly increase those sales. But no. No such luck.
