I came back to the game recently and have quite enjoyed the on-foot aspects of the game. However, it was never going to make me any money.
So I've spent the last 3 weeks really grinding in-ship, doing trade related missions, and it's made me quite a bit of money.
I kitted out my ship, an Anaconda, to prioritise trade and my tactic with the countless attempts from NPCs at interdiction has been to evade. I mostly managed to, but got caught out and destroyed twice. I don't feel I'm in a position - either with the state of my ship or my flying skills, to take these opponents on in combat. Plus I've been stacking missions so it's rarely just one 'enemy' - meaning that if I do get pulled out of supercruise, it's more than one 'deadly' Anaconda that I'm having to take on. No thanks.
I just wonder here if there's an opportunity here for some crossover into the on-foot side of things. Say if, when I take on a trade mission where an 'enemy' will be sent to destroy me, I can maybe get a tip-off too of a local anarchy tourism resort where these pilots are currently residing. And if I choose to go and wipe out that settlement, switch off its power, then I'm free from any 'enemies' being sent to destroy my ship for a set period of time - 24 hours would be nice. I don't think it can be per mission as that would massively increase the time it took to complete these missions. But the opportunity to go and wipe out a settlement full of these pirates once a day would be quite appealing.
It would also provide a bit of a link up between two aspects of the game which, at the moment, feel quite isolated from each other.
