A bit more connection between on-foot and in-ship missions

I came back to the game recently and have quite enjoyed the on-foot aspects of the game. However, it was never going to make me any money.

So I've spent the last 3 weeks really grinding in-ship, doing trade related missions, and it's made me quite a bit of money.

I kitted out my ship, an Anaconda, to prioritise trade and my tactic with the countless attempts from NPCs at interdiction has been to evade. I mostly managed to, but got caught out and destroyed twice. I don't feel I'm in a position - either with the state of my ship or my flying skills, to take these opponents on in combat. Plus I've been stacking missions so it's rarely just one 'enemy' - meaning that if I do get pulled out of supercruise, it's more than one 'deadly' Anaconda that I'm having to take on. No thanks.

I just wonder here if there's an opportunity here for some crossover into the on-foot side of things. Say if, when I take on a trade mission where an 'enemy' will be sent to destroy me, I can maybe get a tip-off too of a local anarchy tourism resort where these pilots are currently residing. And if I choose to go and wipe out that settlement, switch off its power, then I'm free from any 'enemies' being sent to destroy my ship for a set period of time - 24 hours would be nice. I don't think it can be per mission as that would massively increase the time it took to complete these missions. But the opportunity to go and wipe out a settlement full of these pirates once a day would be quite appealing.

It would also provide a bit of a link up between two aspects of the game which, at the moment, feel quite isolated from each other.

I think everyone wants this sort of activity... and it's unlikely to happen in any substantial way.

Odyssey is a standalone optional DLC, in the truest sense of the word. Fusion content means it's not standalone anymore 😞

I gave up on that as an idea as soon as it was said to be optional.

You can make a lot of money with on ground conflict zones and there's no chance of loss except for time. While I do want more integration in the game modes I'm not particularly fond of this particular example.

Would be cool if there was scope for ship- based ground conflict zones, where instead of shooting fish in a barrel... there's multiple scorpions, infantry with MANPADS, turrets and air support on both sides. Hell to balance, but yeah.

Also I thought I'd like, with 'source and return' type missions where the goods can be bought from an anarchy settlement, the option to take some data and upload it to a terminal within the settlement, as a hack, resulting in getting the goods either free or for a heavy discount. The risk being, if you get caught and the alarms go off, you fail the mission and are in quite a bit of danger.

At the moment ship missions are available from the menu on the ship and foot missions are available from the terminals in the concourse, fusing ship and foot missions would of necessity reduce the number of missions available to players with only Horizon's 4.0 and increase the number of missions for players with Odyssey, I don't think that's a good idea, it could be seen as FDEV trying to force Horizons players into purchasing Odyssey by reducing the amount of content available for them to play, not a good look.
