We are going to need a bigger ship

long story short - Colony building.
Hauling in type9 soul-crushing
Upgraded to iClipper and it's mildly better but still daunting the amount of runs required.

We individual players trying to put a startport together need something more, substantial.
Something like a massive Brick of ship.
Something that just fills out the volume of a "large" landing pad, similar to how a type 8, fills out a medium cargo bay.

Even if something was to haul 10'00 units at a time, hauling for a starport, even a little asteroid base, is still a heck of a grind.
so looking at the negative empty space left on the landing pad from the beluga, cutter and type9.
I shall guess 12'00 - 16'00 unit mark. Native sco.
Gimbaled engines to get that vertical thrust to lift off on planets with high gravity.
A picture of a rough guide from some old game.

A ship whose names rhymes with Bantha Dipper (which will now me my ships moniker)

Edit:
Apparently I had an extra zero to max cargo estimate. I know the new ships can be a little OP, but fleet carrier levels of hauling was not my intention.
Apologies 🤪

Not the first thread, won't be the last.

Although colonisation is the first time we've had anything in the game that needed us to shift more than 7000t to complete (and understatement of the year is this a lot more than that).

Personally I'd be against reducing the amounts we need because realistically any of these structures are huge, but gearing this towards tier one being completable by individual players and tier 3 being the pure squadron gameplay seems reasonable. I don't see an approx 1000t capacity cargo ship harming that.

I'm with you on this, with work and real life, sitting here going backwards and forwards in t9 isn't fun.

We need the panther come in fdev, don't give us yet another medium ship we probably have no use for.

It can be big and slow

'We'? I disagree - I will enjoy a medium ship.

Be careful what you wish for or FDev takes you by the word and gives you a dirt slow ship which will never reach its target because you can't escape pirates and if you ever manage to arrive, you won't be able to dock and unload the cargo ;)

They missed a huge opportunity to cash in colonization hype.
A hauler pre release ship would sell like hotcakes during last month.
I guess they dont need the extra money.
hey if you want a hauler in elite dangerous you got one and it has been there since launch........... fill your boots :D

(i am joking but that said the elite player base never ceases to surprise me. it is only a matter of time before someone solos an Orbis or similar in a sidewinder ;)

I watched my friend lose their sanity soloing an Orbis with their Anaconda, doing 50% of an Asteroid Base with a T9 was more than enough for me!

I would be happy with a Large SCO friendly ship with a cargo capacity equivalent to the T9 or Cutter and good speed and handling, four plus utility slots, with not many hardpoints.

Hi :)
I'm having a desk motto made: Colonisation is not compulsory.
Bu!...but!...they want's us players to beta test Colonisation, I'm obliged to participate!
A desk motto for me would be something like this.. "I was a Colonisation Cannon Fodder Participant"

I'm also thinking of that Tom Jones song, or something like it at the moment..."Please release me let me go, For I can't truck stuff anymore, to waste our lives would be a sin, so release me, and let me play (a normal game) again" 🤪

Jack :)

I know you mean well but, posting up pictures and references of 'That ship that will not be named' just brings on my ptsd (Panther traumatic stress syndrome)
If you don't desist I'll be tempted to post up pictures of the 'Boa'...'Tiger Trader' (needs a substantial modification this one) and the 'Puma Shuttle'.

Thankyou, for I hope you're cooperation :D

Jack :)
