Core mining BROKEN! I think this happened a few years ago.

Core mining is broken! Doesn't matter the material or the rings, icy or rocky rings doesn't matter, I've tried both. Easily reproducible (just go crack an asteroid), issue tracker in the system. Mining works like normal until you crack an asteroid, then the abrasion blasters will NOT break loose the surface deposits.

What's being done?

Granted I mined before the latest patch, bit it worked OK for me then.
So if it's broken, it must be from the latest update.

I have read that this only happens if you have surface mined that asteroid before cracking it. (Not tried core mining yet.)

I'm not much of a miner when it comes to ED but have been doing a fair bit recently while my notoriety is high (had to murder Sirius Corp employees to unlock Uma Laszlo). Anyway, once the asteroid is broken the surface deposits won't dislodge from the fragments when using the abrasion blaster...

Workaround: Don't laser mine before cracking the asteroid. It seems it's better to leave the other deposits too untouched.
(I could swear i could release subsurface a few days ago. However, yesterday it didn't work. Maybe it also depends on the ring, resources or whatever... just leave everything else untouched, if you won't test it)
