How do you extract journal files to see your station economy stats

When you dock with a station your journal file is updated with information about that station. This includes name, type, factions, and commodity prices. There are no economy statistics in the journal file. To figure that out you need to track the data yourself over time.

On Windows its in your profile directory /saved games/frontier developments/elite dangerous/journal.*
There are entries like this - this is my Tier 3 planetary port which is steadfastly 100% colony regardless of everything else I have built around it.

ED Discovery has a Journal tool/tab that displays that info as well. Info about the App here https://edcodex.info/?m=tools&entry=10
What a great tool, I'm just trying to get familiarised with it - I added 'Journal' as a tab but is there a specific category I need to filter to be able to see the data? - I tried Markets and Statistics but that wasn't correct. Any idea which one I should be choosing?I use this, strongly recommend it
The entry that appears after you dock into a station. Double click on that and the station economy should be at the end.
Filter by "Landing" event (icon is green Coriolis station).
From what I can see of the tool mentioned, it'll add your data to the online resources too;
I use Elite Dangerous Market Connector to do the same thing, so for example my system now shows as this at Inara.
Bear in mind all of these tools can only pull data from the last player who directly visited that station; it doesn't write data to journal until you land, so it does not know that two of my stations have been renamed, because I've not landed there, and no one else has yet either. This means market data will also be inaccurate or out of date, unless you manually fly there to sync them.
