Griffin or Panther Clipper

I doubt that there will be a new size category, and we don't need one either. If we get the Panther, I hope it'll come with 4x size 8, that'll be 1000t plus a little extra from smaller slots. Anything bigger would probably break the balance too much. I do hope it'll be the first ship with a size 8 FSD though.

And we seriously complained about the Corsair's nose??? :) With that conk one can't pass the mail slot :D
Dear Mr Braben and fdev we are ready to pay 50eu for any , hauling needs help in ED

pls
Yeah, make it 200€ and keep it locked for ARX indefinitely!1!!eleven!
<That was sarcasm because I think that a modest fee for previews is absolutely fine but above suggestion is way off>

Hi All :)

Quote....."Dear Mr Braben and fdev we are ready to pay 50eu for any , hauling needs help in ED".

I think where the 'problem' is (if there is any) could be contained in the OP's statement at the end of the sentence "hauling needs help in ED"
While I'm not adverse to having new bigger ships per se (or any new ships for that matter) I'm wondering in this particular case if the OP is hinting at colonisation and it's perhaps root features as regards trucking stuff?

Just wondered., as I'm confused at what the OP is wanting bigger ships for, colonisation or just generally other reasons.

Jack :)

Type 9XL which is basically two Type 9-s welded together front-to-back. Colloquially known in dockyards and space bars as "The Lakon Centipede".

The Panther Clipper should occupy 1 full large landing pad. Double the cargo capacity of a Type-9. Essentially 2 Type-9s welded together. A Type-9 requires only half the length of a large landing pad.

Given the material requirements for colonies and that Fdev needs to keep selling ships for years to come, we might get a new class of extra-large ships with external docking (too big for the mailslot). The mailslot could be made taller as well.

Griffin Bob's Thoughts as if Imp cutter being described.

Still, old school Griffin aint look like fist, but rather... I am not sure if it can be properly named, without profanity warning. Oh well. :ROFLMAO:

Now if ship of such "shape" if would be added into game, now that would be quite exquisite meme, and sight to behold, if would actuall ever work as dedicated ram vessel.
Lexx already played with that.

After you get this ship you will ask for an even bigger one and this can go on forever. This can be stopped by ordering independent transporters that would deliver goods to the carrier or colony ship, this process could take place in the background. Or by getting allied minor factions to send resources from their markets to your construction, part of an investment etc. There are many ideas for this, but we will not solve it with bigger and bigger flying logs.
Regarding the proposal for another hauler ship, in my opinion it should appear, but not necessarily its cargo capacity exceeding even 900t. What would be more desirable? Of course the pleasure of flying, so compatibility with SCO, acceptable heat signatures and protection. If many activities are based on flying back and forth in a naked T9, it is not fun.

Landing pad/hangar and station access corridors set hard physical limits on how big a ship can be. T10 can barely fit through the mailslot; Beluga can lenght-wise just fit on a Large pad. As I said, 2 T9-s front-to-back is basically the biggest a ship can become. That means 1600...2000 ton payload.

Not a problem for devs, they can go with new narrative of creating let's say "Sirius Corp cargo subspace compression technology" (term borrowed from Egosoft X games;), players will engage in a series of community goals which will result in a new class 8+ cargo racks that also require energy, generally something they did with bringing sco's.

Made me think of the train from Discovery Freelancer
Dsy_trainx3.png
The concept reminds me of
  • A Patrick Troughton Dr Who story.
  • The ship that crashes in “Never The Same Door”.
  • The Starship that is the main setting of “Slow Train to Arcturus”.
  • Space Cowboy’s ship in Battle Beyond the Stars.
