Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

GuardFreq Tony's lawyer-senses suggest this is why the CIG blog can't over-polish the numbers...

That's the thing: the credible threat of a lawsuit by minority shareholders. All of CIG's public statements, to the extent they contradict information given to the Board from management, can be used against CIG to demonstrate that CIG's management was deceiving the minority shareholders

Makes sense.

And if CIG really don't want fans putting 'dwindling reserve' and '2025 loan' together, then they probably have closed that transparency door ;)

Transparency?

Backers: "Why no more subscription-funded YT shows?"
CIG: "LOL. <lame joke here>"

Yep. Digital Citcon. Video slowdown. (Cinematographer who worked on the vids, and grumpily reckons he ran the 5 camera set-ups single-handed, was a recent leaver incidentally). All the resourcing has its shoulders up against SQ42, and has been told to push...

And not even a glib Lando animation to sugar coat the pill ;)

Community is busy arguing about potential future maybe gameplay. Reads more and more like a conspiracy theory community then a video game one.

Isn't that the usual "You don't know what game they're making!" "No, you don't know!"?
CIG promised that solo captains could fly their big ships with NPC crew. Another group says that would invalidate multi-player mutli-crew ships and are against it.

It's a nice deep hole they dug there. I hope they brought a mining mech.

Hand mining only 🤡

I guess a lot of people bought big ships on the promises of NPC crew and AI blades.

Then you have the MMOers who say they don't want them and CIG shouldn't add them, meaning they are fine with CIG delivering something different from what they promised.

Therefore I hope that CIG change something the MMOers hope for, so everyone else can tell them they are fine with CIG going back on one thing so can't complain when CIG go back on something else.

"It's pointless trying to discuss this with any pro-NPC crew people, because they simply cannot seem to comprehend that the side effects of allowing excessive, effective NPC crew will impact all sections of the game and inherently hurt them. Plus, the immense amount of work a system like that could take. The best thing CIG can do is fully scrap the idea of NPC crew."

Now there's a pro-NPC/anti-NPC split in addition to PvE/PvP, fast travel/immersive tedium and other factions.

The no-looting change to player corpses goes in that direction.

Funny thing is, nobody has ever said NPC/blades would be better than player crew. As i recall, the pitch was always they would be ok to use, to fill up the slots, but not better than a decent player.

So, unless CIG made them as good as or better than a decent player, its a non-argument.

I don't even think we ever see them working properly in Game. NPC crew that is. Unless they put all of the logic clientside.
And they would be better because they would be available 24/7 😇

NPC crew could be more or less static assets, just glued to their chairs, going through the motions (like FC crew) but the actual actions are simply done like AI blades - that is, basic scripts, following commands issues by the captain. Of course, that wouldn't be enough for Fidelity Roberts, who will want NPC crew to actually press the button to put power to shields or whatever.

Also, if they have NPC crew who need to move around, eg: to do repairs, i fear they will disappear after falling through the ship.
