System Building is 90% Supercruise Assist and Automated Docking and 10% clicking buttons.

I see many, many complaints about not wanting to automate these systems on the forums. But here I am, 30% into building my first t2 on my second day, and this is what the majority of the gameplay has been. It's literally mostly automated while I work from home on my second monitor and tab over to click buttons and wiggle my mouse a little. I load my Carrier the same way, then unload it to the colony ship.
Oh no, I lose 8 SCU or something from having these two modules.
I still have 784 space in my cutter because I don't need shields.
There is no threat of conflict or interdiction ever if I remain on solo mode, and I will never be mass locked by any potential threat, and I can outrun anything due to engineering merely existing anyway.

I know this is what it will be when I place my first blueprint for a ground installation but I will wiggle my mouse a little to align with the ground installation.

I know this is what it will be when I build my satellites.

I know this is what it will be when I build any other structure.

I know this is what it will be so long as Hauling is the only option for progress.

The only change in gameplay is when I click a few buttons to load up the carrier, or move the carrier.

I really, really don't understand why some people even "play" this game when they don't actually play this game. I'm sure most of the complaints about boring hauling grind (a word I truly hate) are from players using the flight assist modules. I've built a couple of Coriolis's, multiple platforms, a dozen or so installations and plenty of surface structures, all in a shieldless T9. I never get bored as I'm never flying hands off.
Give it a try, go on. It is a space flight sim after all.

And then they complain about being interdicted by NPC's:)

Some comments about colonisation make me think of a person who buys a hammer, goes outside and starts hitting themself with it, then promptly marches back into the hardware store to complain loudly that not only does it hurt when they hit themself with the hammer, but also why are they not being paid by the hardware store to do it?

I have to be on my toes; there are pirates out there - I know, I have been attacked, even whilst trying to dock. Autodock cannot be relied on, I have been stopped dead by the outlying platform parts.

For people with disabilities or impairments, Elite Dangerous is unplayable without supercriuse assist and auto docking. Nobody is forcing anyone to install these modules on their ships. FDev has provided the best solution for the ENTIRE player base. No change is needed beyond maybe FDev being a little more generous with size 1 slots on ship or some additional size 1 restricted slots.

Because I'm working on my other monitor. I'm at 40% completion, I've seen one pirate interdiction attempt that didn't even actually try. It's kind of hard to interdict when theres only 30 mm's between you and your destination. That is one attempt in over 45k tons of materials delivered solo.

Actual flight simulators are interesting because you see more than the same location and perform more than the same 5 maneuvers 700+ times to perform a single task. It's like you're trying to compare working at an amazon warehouse to playing chess over here. I have taken trips to the bathroom that require more mental acuity and effort than landing and taking off in this game.

Manually docking also can be much faster than auto-docking. And using carefully-timed SCO with the supercruise assist trick can result in crazy amounts of time being saved every trip. The latter especially if you're filling your carrier from a station in orbit of the same body, because you can go way faster than 200KMps and that's invaluable. Optimizing your trips can become very satisfying.

Lol I actually have acute tendonitis and play on the same drafting pen display I work on sometimes, using my pen with the comically dummy thick therapy foam to pilot my ship. When I feel extra lazy.

Do it make me IRL income too?

Of course not, funny man. I love using the auto features when I'm multitasking too. The intent was to outline how the auto features are not as fast as manually doing things when you're devoting your attention to the game, and mainly the game.
SC assist + SCO lets you cheese most of supercruise though.

I have a confession ..... recently whilst hauling I was multitasking by clearing out/tidying, my desk, draws and stuff on the floor. I was also able to do a lot of document shredding. All from the comfort of my desk. Mostly. It made hauling go so much more easily. Clearing out is still work in progress. But there is progress - just like building stations and installations.

Oh man, this lot feels my pain.

The SCO really speeds things up and that almost spoils it. I love to get in cleaning while I do runs, it feels properly productive after a few hours. Most of the downtime is autodock now though, especially building further away from the bubble where a fleet carrier is best.

While we're talking about assists, I'm sure we've all seen the murderous side of the autodock. I started engineering a lot of my ships so that if I deploy weapons, it disables the autodock from power loss. It can be a big help and it's even more useful for landing on planets. I was very confused when I came back after awhile and found a gun on my trading ship. Has anyone else tried that?

For some the choice is play while doing something else or don't play at all. Who has time to just sit and play games undisturbed?
