Titan drive components are now fairly safe to scavenge in Sol

I found the pirates to be both numerous (eventually 3 or more in an instance) and much more dangerous and engineered than the regular NPC pirates I see most of the time; (though fortunately they work individually - not in a pack)

Ally-green AX pilots didn't seem to care or help in a firefight either. Not sure why, I guess pirates aren't their concern. Rescue ships send you repair limpets ...but I believe I saw them sending repairs to the pirates as well. Bad rescue-ship! Bad!

So I recommend treating the pirates with more caution than regular pirates; either get scanned with empty cargo holds, or pick up some of the floating junk while searching for the stuff you're after so that you can give them some loot you don't care about, then they'll leave you alone.

There also seem to be a lot fewer canisters and materials floating around than before the caustic cloud dispersed, but Titan Drive Components still appear after a while so no complaints :)

Interestingly, when a pirate was hunting me (trying to scan me when I was flying my titan cold-extraction ship, meaning I break his scan each time I move away), I did the Titan AX trick of hiding in one of the folds of the larger titan debris ...and the pirate couldn't find me even with clear line of sight at short range, similar to Thargoids. I guess that complicated geometry really messes with the scanners...

...Or (in my headcanon) the ship's Carapace Pack is doing its job; the ship blending in as thargoid debris 😁

While waiting for TDC, I scoop the grade-5 thargoid mats. We don't have a use for many of them yet , but I expect at some point in the future there will be a Thargoid materials trader so having an assortment of G5s to trade will be useful. Common G5s include organic circuitry, propulsion elements, sensor fragments (ram a sensor canister to smash it into fragments)

I didn’t see any more TDCs with long range A rated sensors than I did with long range D rated. I was frequently checking the Targets panel, and generally scooting around, not just circling.

It’s completely unscientific, but my feeling is they were spawning 5-7km from my ship.

Same experience here. The TDCs seemed to spawn after a predetermined number of minutes & appeared on the outer limits of my scanner (7-9km).

Had the opposite experience. Whenever a pirate attacked it got dogpiled on by a ridiculous number of AX ships, there was zero chance of me even getting hurt. Got so comfy I happily left my ship floating there to prepare snacks and clean up after. There were so many green blips I found it absurd that any pirate would try anything in that environment; it's like some guy pulling a 22 surrounded by Rangers with twitchy fingers on assault weapons.

There were so many blips on the radar I thought the game had reverted back to the beta days when RES were actually full of ships instead of being the desert that they are now.

Weird. I wonder what the difference was? This happened within the week but now I'm now sure if it was before or after Thursday. IIRC I used a warrant scanner on pirates before getting scanned... maybe that affects it?
(It happened in a regular ship, so it can't be that the AX pilots couldn't see my cold ship. I'm allied with the Sol factions, etc)

You were very lucky then, I'm averaging way less than one an hour.

Maybe, but this rate wasn't much better than my trip to a different titan site some weeks ago, and other players have reported similar results.

The first TDC I of this trip took over an hour to find. IIRC, the first one of my last trip took extra long as well. How long are you spending there at a time?

Well, in case y'all wanted another viewpoint on this topic. On my third session of about 2 hours each and haven't found one single TDC. Flying an orbit of about 10-15km around the center of wreckage and every once in a while fly through. Not one. Ridiculous really.

I've been into a debris field a couple of times in the last month and managed to find several TDCs. Probably at least one per 2 hours.

Also they’ve always shown up behind me at the 5-6 km range , not directly behind but from ground I’ve already covered and never in front of me.

You can observe the same kind of annoying pattern while you are boosting around in a Res site looking for new targets. You have to turn around very often because new NPCs tend to spawn behind you, not directly ahead of you, which makes zero sense since your ship is usually way faster than anything NPCs can fly, making them unable to catch up with you from behind, so logically you should be more likely to find them in front of your ship, which is not what you can observe.

I guess it's just another bug.
