Uhm? you know that pc1 and pz engine are the same, but pc2 actually isn't and it is not especially when it comes to pathing, i dont know if you played any games recently, but i just played PZ (for the first time) and you can't tell me, that you don't see that there is a whole diffrent pathingsystem and pathing behaviour. (weren't you just complaining about how stupid the ai pathfinding is? so guess what people walk on paths ;)

They reworked the whole pathsystem, probably found out that with the new system, kerbless path look ugly. tried to fix it, just saw: 'hm, this is not so easy solveable and added it to the 'Down the line' list.

I'm pretty sure they said that PZ was developed on a newer Cobra engine than PC1. And if PC2 is developed on a newer Cobra engine than PZ, even more should be possible for PC2 than for PZ.
An example for this are the improved restaurants, scenery scaling, path merging.

Correct. A new engine should not mean less features. Especially if the features that was lost/removed were highly appreciated in previous titles. You can remove kerbs in both PC1 and PZ, but not in PC2. Makes no sense.

What you just described is another reason the game should never have been released in the state it did. Paths would (should) be one of the first things they got to work right in the development as everything is based of paths.

You are correct that the parts works differently in PC1 and PZ. IOn those games they actually work. :) I very much prefer those paths and functionality over what we, still, have on PC2. There is potential in PC2, but so far, 6 months after release, it is a huge downgrade.
 
Is this still a thing for anyone else or am i breaking path finding with barriers?

Is there an Unlocked tomorrow? Maybe they will talk more about Update 5 and even hint at what could be beyond Update 5. PC2 has so much potential. It's not too late for them to improve it more and make it what it should have been. I wish though that they would have gone with more of an RCT3 style biome system where you could modify the entire map and the edges and take the backgrounds away. They stuck with the PC1 style with non-editable skirts.

I wouldnt go straight for downgrade as it is mixed, there are a lot things PC2 does better, maybe even with update 4 management (we need more long term results, but the first looks are promising as shops now have expenses and not anymore straight income = profit like it was before.

Just the example: i brought PZ recently in sale and i personally am underwhelmed. There were a million things that put me off, maybe because i wasn't use to, but i didnt had the motivation to engage with it. Of course people who play this game for 6 years know those nooks and crannies, can work around it, but the new player experience is not what many people think it is in 2025.

PC1 and PZ (and i am pretty sure, that pz uses a modified cobra 1 engine) were great this is full exploited and greatly tweaked engine with PZ, but also an engine where the foundation is from the mid of the 2010s and is probably outdated.

At sometime you need to do the cut and develop a new one as technology moves on, but we need to understand that this is cobra 2.0 and of course it has growing pains, which go away over time as the developer gets more acustomed and proficient with the handling of the engine.

It is the with Unreal 4 vs. Unreal 5, i think everyone knows 5 is the better looking engine, but many games still use 4 simply, because it is better supported still. In 1 or 2 years things will be diffrent.

We are still in this weird transition period, where the old version still may be better but in time it will turn around, this not even a Frontier exclusive issues: Civ 4 was better than the fresh release civ 5, civ 5 was better in its final state than the freshly released 6, and if you follow the news you probably know how the freshly released 7 is doing.
Crusader Kings 3 still doesnt have the complete functionality a fully DLC'ed CK2 has, but it is now slowly becoming the better game.

In pc1 we were able to select the maps textures aswell as the background. I remember once changing the background of my park to the one where you have city in the background. Again, frontier made 2 steps back in thsi aspect of the game :/
 
I meant an RCT3 type map editor where you could take backgrounds away and modify the map edges, make a beach style park with ocean at one end. But they stuck with the same type of format for PC2 with non-editable skirts.

Things like this realy are not putting a good light on frontier at all. And its just so absurd because they know by now that they are under close observation by many critical users yet they decide to drop the ball again and again and again and again…

I don't like to say this, but...
Frontier is delivering a new ride...
REPUTATION FREEFALL

But this ride is real life.
(And because of missing quality control, they forgot to add brakes)

Why is removing a feature an issue fix? Should we be happy that they haven't deleted the complete ride...?
And again Frontier, you're going to miss any further purchases on Frontier products!

I'm starting to lose any hope for a future of this game...
It's really sad!

The log flume issue is here since the launch of the game.
