Spending money ?

So I had a bunch of stuff on my carrier , the ALD Galahad, I had osmium , a few other minerals, meta-alloys , soontil relics , articulation thingies and a few other mission reward type things. Was at one point going for the ‘try to corner the market on everything needed for engineer unlock’ thing , got most of the way there but then moved on/found the new PP 2.0.

Had most marked at max price , as selling a bit will keep carrier paid for and wanted to keep some as no one will buy it all, as in enough if you just need to unlock someone. Then this commander comes along and buys EVERYTHING I had , a little surprising to say the least AND he even ingame texted me to say he had bought it all.

So now I have an extra 28 billion to do something with. So my question is , who spends that much on just inventory? Fleet carrier now financed for 30 plus years , so I added all rest of the concourse services today but still ….?

After you reach some billions any income after that is near pointless. I'm guessing they intend on opening new accounts and wanted to avoid some engineer unlock hassle.

Yeah but that Nigerian prince never actually pays up , his cheque never clears or he asks for the stuff upfront.

This one paid upfront so am not sure he was Nigerian.

Around the holidays, I reverse-pirate commanders. I will pull them out of SC, wish them happy holidays, and give them a few tons of gold as a gift.

I routinely help newcomers in game with whatever they are trying to accomplish and show them the ropes.

Occasionally when I read about someone struggling with something on these forums, I will contact them and offer in-game help.

After a while, you will accumulate more credits than you could possibly use and they can become meaningless. To add some value and spend some time in a positive way, there’s a lot of ways to give back with your billions of credits if that’s what you’re looking for.

When I play first-person RPGs I like to mod' them so currency has weight because it breaks my immersion to think I can only carry a couple of swords, armor and some loot without being over-encumbered but I can also, somehow, carry half a million gold coins.
As a result, I always have a pukka "treasure chest" in my home and I only carry "spending money" with me.

I mention this because I operate the same way in ED.
Whenever I accumulate more than Cr3bn I traansfer the excess to my FC and, as a result, my FC now has a balance of around Cr20bn.
That's enough to pay for my FC for the next 38 years, if my math's is correct.

Thing is, it goes quicker than you realise... unless you're paying attention.
My Corsair cost me around Cr70m but by the time it was fully outfitted the bill was around Cr500m.
And that's just for a medium-pad cargo ship.

My Corvette has all the spendy parts and that "only" cost me around Cr1.1bn.
I wonder if FDev are gradually making ship-builds more expensive as a way to make credits relavent again?

Be interesting to see what a fully built PCM2 is going to cost.

I do the same.
As a remark, at rebuy screens money can be transferred from FC, so have no fear of running dry (that was my only concern).

I'm still hoping that one day I could pay some serious cash to get a colony ship out beyond the 15ly limit.

Isn't it 25 million for a claim? Could be a fixed 10m plus 1m per lightyear. So 20,000 lightyears out in the black could cost 20 billion.

After buying a Corsair and totally outfitting it I dropped below 25 billion.
For some reason I had to go out and start a credit earning campaign to get back above 25 billion again.
Then thank goodness the mining CG started and I am now back above 25 billion again.
Phew, I feel better now

I can’t explain this kind of behavior, I must have a disorder of some kind.

Help

Yes, you have a disorder.
My bar is 20 billion, I swim between 23 and 25 and I feel fine.
You are weird with that 25.

EXACTLY!
that's why I used to carry no more than 3 wheels of cheese in Skyrim.

Well, you can always colonize systems with Apollo stations, and pay obscene amounts of money to have the Galactic Longshoremen's Syndicate load and unload your FC for you. 😉

A very kind and very wealthy commander gifted me a fleet carrier, that was amazing and now combined with FDEV updates and new ships the game is like a second coming for me.

Nice! My current sport of choice is encouraging/ aiding/ abetting CMDRs into a nice shiny new Carrier. The age old question of "what can you use all those credits for?" has a pretty simple answer.
