Do you start in random location now?

I started in LHS 3447

The station they started me at is ~100k LS from the Nav point.

Great way to tout the multiplayer version of the game by scattering the player base across the galaxy so it is unlikely one shall ever meet ways.

Its much more realistic, no? I mean if everyone spawned at the same place, everyone would be barreling out of the space station like a swarm of bats. You better get trekking if there's somewhere you want to be. You are never going to be tripping over players, its not that sort of multiplayer.

I wouldn't call it more realistic. In theory you could just have a populated system where everyone is from. I mean everyone had to come from Sol System anyways.

The problem is this hurts players who want to team up. Have a buddy you want to play with. Sorry you are on both on separate ends of the Universe.

Games that require you to play 10 hours before you get to finally meet your friends is ridiculous.

Sure maybe allow the function to start in a random system if you want, but if you want to meet your friends, you should be allowed to start in the core systems.

Otherwise someone's "VISION" is blinding them to the obvious fact that this is more and more like an online single player game.

Bring up your scanner, aim at the unexplored thingy and press fire until it completes its scan. That's what I do and it works usually.

In a galaxy with the potential of so may inhabited worlds, it makes far more sense to start people out at different locations. Everyone will not be clumped all in one place. Humanity is spread out in the galaxy, and so are we. I personally like it, it makes sense.

I would give you a suggestion to help understand the concept, read the Honor Harrington series, great SciFi series set 1920 years after Diaspora (mankind's dispersion to the stars.)
