NPC Crew why only 1?

I am not sure about everybody else but isn't it about time that we could have the same amount of NPC Crew as seats on a ship?

What I mean is, if you can have 3 other players along for the ride and each of them can take to the sky, as in teams, why cannot we just have 3 NPC's fighting along side of us instead of just 1?

Now I really do not care if I have to pay a lot to have them fight with me as I make enough in bounties, but it would be nice to actually have 3 little squashable ships, the fighters, flying with you in a wing. Or just have 2 one for each bay. Then you have a choice if you want humans with you, or NPC's.

Now I prefer humans, however if you play solo or in a group and nobody is online you end up playing alone. Allowing NPC Crew to the amount of hanger bays would be great, otherwise what is the point of allowing people to have 2 hanger bays and only 1 NPC accessing it?

I know somebody will have asked this over the years but its like the old conversation about tractor scoops and cargo scoops. In 1000 years we shouldn't still be in the stone age.

because until the Panter Clipper is released we've never needed one...

Seriously, it's a balancing issue, if you launched 2 fighters that ships would be way overpowered. Besides, most everything is automated so one to fly the ship or fighter, the weapons can fire automatically, not much else to run.

I could easily use two NPC's. It's hardly overpowered to be able to launch 2 SLFs. If I can wing up with my mates in their full engineered death machines, having 2 SLF fighters isn't an issue. Particualry as players like myself only ever play solo (and occasional private) ... it is more than reasonable to have two NPCs on boards to launch both SLFs

I agree with you fully. I could team up with friends, go into a RS site Hazardous and clean up all day. we only leave when we are either out of Ammo, or just sit there with beams blasting away. 3 Anaconda's all beam happy and you have enough power to take down everything without being to OP.

There are many ships that cannot have Hangers now, so ones that can have 2 fighter should be able to have 2 fighters launched at one time. If you are in a team, can you have more than one player in a fighter? which TBH is a little sad btw. If I play Solo I should have the same opportunities as those in wings. you are limited to a set number of players or NPC's either way its not like your OP with two small fighters. Now 3 Anaconda's armed to the teach really kills it for fun.

Would it though? For PvE it doesn't matter, and the kind of organic PvP where it could pretty much doesn't exist in this game.
Connection and rubber banding would be a concern.

I am actually surprised that others haven't expressed the same sentiment, it was hotly debated back when the feature was new.

I have made regular feature requests for dual NPC SLFs for the past decade. It is literally the ONLY feature upgrade I want in the game lol.

I'll be pretty amused if you need to hire 11 crew members just to fly the Panther Clipper like you did you Fe2 and FFE :D
In the old games you were restricted and needed crew, but in this you do not.

If there is a requirement to have extra crew just to fly any ship, then they must give the same options to have multiple Fighters. This would mean one to fly the Panther, and 2 to fly fighters then others to do basic jobs like Engineering stations, Engine room etc.

Still you have spots for 3 crew members, and 3 slots for crew on ship, but you can only use one of the members of crew to fly a fighter. Something needs to change

When it came into the game all those years ago they should have allowed more than one fighter.

It seems that the only way forward is to upgrade this option, especially with the Panther coming out, so that people can experience exactly what it would be like with multiple crew and roles. We can already have Wings of three, why not 2 fighters and a ship, 2 NPC fighters and your ship. Its not like these fighter are top gun aces. Getting Crew at harmless, or lower and building them up is fun, but why bother paying somebody that's doing nothing but still taking money from you. 14% of what you earn soon adds up when they just sit there doing sweet FA.
2 Fighters may cost you more in the long run, but it makes the game better for Solo players, and group mode players.

I am aware of this :D - I've played the current game for a decade or so by now. However, I still think it would be funny if we needed 12 people to crew a Panther Clipper like in FE2 and FFE :D

Elite Frontier and Elite First Encounter had Panthers which were cool. Landing on earth was fun. As it wasn't actually multi crews just a crew needed for a ship.

There was no Elite 2, Elite has never had a number following it.

So, in this country, "Elite Frontier" as you call it, was published as "Frontier: Elite 2" for the PC. It was also published as "Elite 2" for the Commodore Amiga. (Though not in that order.)

Most fans of that game just call it FE2 for short.

FFE is of course Frontier: First Encounters. I am well aware that both games had Panther Clippers in them, as I played both games for years.

Why are you trying to explain the game's mechanics to me though? Like I said, I played those games.

They were single player games, so of course you didn't need other humans to crew your ships, and I never argued that they did. All I said was that it would be funny, as in it would make me laugh at least if we had to hire 11 npcs just to fly the new ship when it's put in the game...

Hi :)

I'd be happy with them just occupying the empty seats on the bridge, even if they don't add any extra functionality, it would make the game feel a bit more alive.

I agree (y), just so long as they're in no way related to those ignorant, sullen and quite frankly weird people who presently crew my carrier......hang on! 🤔...except 'Haylee Wilcox' my bridge officer, she always looks as if she's about to break out into a smile, lovely lady! 🤗

Jack :)

I quickly put my Anaconda back in the hanger because it felt weird flying that big ship all by myself.
I use the Anaconda to kill in extraction points, but it would be nice to see other seats filled. I hate feeling lonely in a big ship, lol.

Having a choice of who flies the fighter would be great as you still end up paying Crew even if they sit doing nothing. Better to have them on the ship doing nothing than being paid and sitting Pretty on a Space station.
