The New Content Drought

This year we have long periods with nothing new.
  1. Vanguards is planned for Summer 2025. Q3 is until the end of September 2025.
  2. Panther Clipper Mk II was unveiled in April. 28th of May is probably gameplay video and specs info. Release date could be in July 2025.
  3. 3rd new ship in Autumn = probably September or October 2025.
  4. Secret new feature and 4th new ship in Winter 2025 = probably December 2025.
So May, June till late July we get nothing new except maybe a few Trailblazers patches to fix bugs and improve some stuff.

Whatever the new feature is I think it won't be any of the top 5 requests.

How will you survive the new content drought?
By having fun and playing the game.

With lots of old content still not bothered with I wouldn't have known this was a drought so thank you for telling me.

So does this mean you have exhausted every bit of content currently in the game? Been to Beagle Point, visited all of the guardian sites, generation ships etc... Like you've done it all and you have billions and max materials and you're like, what now?

CG's are pointless to you because you have money and special engineered modules are meaningless to you?

Like, you say there is no new content and yet they are literally evolving the story of the galaxy

What? Sounds pretty good for a "dead game".

I'd rather have fewer, higher quality releases, than more broken content. We all know that Vanguards is going to be released in an 85% working state, with significant pain points that make no sense to players, and that it will take six or more months to fix, while Powerplay and Colonization bugs will be approaching a year without being fixed, and even older bugs start to enter secondary school.

And yes, management, I'm not buying ARX because of the low quality of recent features, and the many months it takes to fix basic things, and the near-total radio silence on issues.

fair points
but currently my pov is
id rather get delayed, wonky, somewhat functional new features that will be fixed somewhen evenetually in the somewhat near future, when i will still be playing an awesome game that is still getting awesome updates
rather than playing dull, unupdated, stagnant game that gets ignored and will probably not get fixed neither now nor anytime soon, because it was deemed not prosperable for the company.
that presumption put aside
fdev put good effort into making me believe there still is stellar future for elite, and i believe.

Rather than a new feature, I would love to see something using the current existing mechanics / contents implemented for whoever is not interested in colonizing (me, for instance).
Can we just slowly bring back the Thargoid, maybe showing up in some remote locations, for a start?

You are the most stereotypical user of a software. Labelling particular issues you care about as 'basic stuff'... believing you have absolutely any grounds to know how long something should take to fix.

They do excellent work given the constraints they have - namely, mouthy customers who have all the complaints in the world, but will not put their hand in their pocket to pay them to fix it.

Buy ARX if you love this game and want them to continue to improve it.

Be critical, that is fine, but your feedback is patently negative and unconstructive.

...or maybe, give some love to some existing features, without the need to completely revamp them.
On-foot Odyssey stuff, for instance. Improve the AI of NPC's (can they at least run, jump to relocate/fight, use shield grenades??), rebalance the mission payout, add Power ground Conflict Zones, etc...

I must have already spent close to $80 in ARX since I came back to the game months ago.
It's not usual for me to spend on stuff that I do not even see or really need (paint jobs, outfits, early access to a ship), but every time I get a new ship/loadout that I find useful, or something that could be useful, I'm like "FDev deserves to take my money" :)

Isn't vanguards about squadrons and stuff? Not interested

Maybe the panther clipper but that depends in the cargo capacity

So probably December then

Can we just slowly bring back the Thargoid
Is pretty much what I was going to say, except maybe without the slow part (slow by the Frontier definition is eons for everyone else... sorry, bad joke). But really, I would be happy to have the Thargoid stuff back, not because I want the "war" to continue (interesting as it was in some aspects), but because of all the story threads it's left dangling. From the mid-war stuff to the incursion into Sol.

... I would also like to have a bit more story going again generally, though I suppose the recent-ish Powerplay conflicts might be playing into something there.

I'd be saying that the new mystery feature might be something in relation to the Thargoids, but it could just as well be Salvation and his Nemesis Failsafe/Guardians, or even the Powerplay conflicts that are being sprouted here and there... however, feeling hesitant to really speculate because it might set me up with wrong expectations. Or any expectations on something we have absolutely no clue what it will be for or about. (I would like to see what colonization has as a role in whatever story we might have left for Elite, beyond humans being humans and deciding to launch a wave of expansion in post-war hubris, while they're the ones who assume it is "over")
