This week we witnessed the return... and instant fall of the long awaited rares meta. For many powers, this was touted as a reason to celebrate, but the wise Zemina Torval knew this was too good to be true, having experienced many times the pain of attempting to buy a product on launch day. Lo and behold, she was right. Within a few days stocks of the precious soontill relics fell, first to 400 tons and then all the way back to 80 tons, grinding many operations to a screeching halt.
In the midst of this a modest 7 systems were acquired in what was a week of massive power-shifts. Though it wasn't without problems, LYR's late push to take a bigger share of the East India Company had to be quashed in LTT 1652, and Agents of the Emperor were thwarted upon her attempt to claim the Torveillien Colony of Col 285 Sector OS-T d3-148. 1 new fortified system was established with no new strongholds.
Across the rares of the empire, post rares clarity hit hard. Whilst most were able to pull of impressive gains due to rare commodities, productivity quickly fell off upon their shortage. Arissa managing a very solid +20, whilst fellow senator Patreus was cut some slack clawing back +8 systems in what has been a turbulent couple of week. The woman of the hour however was the Peoples Princess, ascending to the top of the charts with +25 systems and becoming the most influential power in the galaxy. A leak within the office says that torval grinded through 3 sets of false teeth, whilst writing her a letter of congratulations.
The wider bubble followed a similar pattern, with a rapid start followed by a petering off as supplies dwindled. Archer established his iron grip over another 6 systems in what has been a run of anemic weeks for the federations strongman. Whilst Winters asserted her strength with 9 new systems, beating the shadow president in all metrics for the second week running.
Mahon and Kaine managed to acquire 10 and 11 systems respectively in what was a strong cycle all round for the alliance powers. Though sources suggest that some fractures may be forming with the relationship increasingly becoming sour due to border conflicts.
Almost all the independents had a good week, Delaine's army of theives thrived on a mix of bought and stolen relics with his power notching up 7 new dominions. Space Elon continued his meteoric rise, buying his way to 21 new systems. Whilst Antal's preaching managed to sway the inhabitants of 14 systems into joining his vision for utopia.
And then there was Grom...
The Dictator has faced an increasing level of undermining in the area surrounding Shinrarta Dezhra from an unknown and faceless foe. over 12 million merits worth of damage was done across 3 systems, without a single hostile encounter occuring in the system. Either his enemy is dishonorably hiding in solo, or something more sinister is afoot. Overall Grom's focus on reinforcement led him to a measly one new system for the cycle.
And now for the squadron and leaderboard news. Suprise Suprise, Cblue Won again! making it 3 from 3 in my cycle reports. With the ever consistent Lekug bringing up second.
4 of the top 10 were TSPA members in what was a bit of a mixed cycle. Both Federal Liberal Command and Flat Galaxy Society made large gains on us in the squadron leaderboards early due to rare commodities, however we managed to pull a healthy gap back by the end due to our other strong bonuses.
Some may pity us, but the best thing about being at the bottom is that the only way you can look is up.
