There are too many accomplishments to count this week. Torval is well and truly back!
Starting with the biggest news, we got a mammoth haul of 21 systems this week, beating our previous record of ten by more than two times. Much of this work was done around the heavily fortified but sparse sphere of HIP 95350, A Terraforming/Extraction system that provided ample resources for our traders and miners. Many new and productive colonies were taken under Torvals wing, with the aim of creating new mining opportunities as part of her Platinum Road Initiative. A second push was mounted from the fortified system of Zeus, owned by the venerable East India Company, who supported Torval agents in operations to expand her influence across their space, special thanks to those who made the 0.17Ly journey to Bartini Town in order to take the system of LHS 1409.
The only contested expansion of the cycle was against ALD, The Horsemen of the Apocalypse were routed by The Torval aligned Coalition of De Fiore Trading Company and Union of Converian Pilots, who cruised to over 200k merits and took the system of Aoesta.
These 21 systems also resulted in Torval reaching a significant milestone. She has now extended her influence to more than 500 systems!! (507), considering that at the beginning of Powerplay 2.0 Torval had less than 350 systems, this is a massive achievement. The gap to 11th place Winters has shrunk from 170 to 40 systems. There is no doubt that they will be looking over their shoulders from now on, and will be desperate to cling on to their coveted 11th place.
Sadly much of our success this week was drowned out by utter insanity that was "Kaines Great Leap Forward", who gained a ridiculous 52 systems and shattered the record held by Princess Aisling without the help of Fdev boosted rares. From all of us here at Torval we offer our congratulations... and also our condolences because pushing up 52 systems is going to be a nightmare...
Across the border, Mahon had an uncharacteristically slow cycle, losing one system while only gaining one new stronghold and fort. Time will tell if Old Mahon can stick with the up-and-comers.
It was a pretty standard week across the rest of the empire, The emperor managed to extend her hold over 9 more systems, whist Admiral Patreus managed to take 3 but was held back by the hard fought but bitter defeat at Gandui. Aisling had an exceptional number of new forts this week matching her number of acquistions at 11.
It seems to be all quiet on the federation front... Archer again looked uninspired whilst taking 6 systems and Winters didn't look much better with only 4 for this week, though at least she managed to upgrade another 5 systems to fortified status. The hotly contested CG system of LP 855-34 was also lost by Winters, though it was pretty unavoidable for them due to the undermining mechanics.
Grom yet again suffered at the hands of the no named assalaints targeting Fong Wang and V886 Centauri. severely hampering his efforts for the 3rd week running, as a result, he only managed a meagre 3 systems.
The rest of the Independents had pretty normal weeks, Delaine much like Patreus threw everything at Gandui, resulting in a slow cycle with only 3 new systems. Antal seems to be enjoying his bonus to rares and continued his upward trend with 6 new systems. Whilst LYR managed a solid nine acquisitions, though he did manage to anger a few of Aisling's supporters in the process, we will have to wait and see if that ends up having any consequences or not.
Yet Again TSPA had another strong showing on the leaderboard, Grannies Greatest Cblue22 extending his winning streak to 4 in a row and managed to lock out both first and second thanks to the power of a Steam Deck. New recruits TarkaDal and Grandmoff also made the list, meaning TSPA locked out 8 of the top 10 positions.
The Gap to Swords of Makhai on the power leaderboards is relatively large, but it is likely we will still catch them by the end of the season if they slow down at all.
"Glory Glory Zemina Torval... Glory Glory Zemina Torval... Glory Glory Zemina Torval... And the Blues go marching ON ON ON!!!" (to the tune of Battle Hymn of the Republic)
