black hole accretion disk visulization update

i would like to see an occasional feeding black hole woudnt you?

These could be cool as rare finds/when conditions are met, i agree! Could make them a codex entry and everything!

They should spawn in tight binaries for X-Ray binaries, or rarely on their own. I dont think they can retroactively update Stellar Forge to turn cold planets warm near an accretion disk sadly, so the other condition would be rarely if a black hole has nothing in close orbit to it it may spawn with a dim one.

I'd also like to see the event horizon return! I know it's normally absolutely tiny even if you fly up in the black hole's face, but i seem to remember someone running numbers and finding that they would be visible (And for Sag A*, huge and amazing!)

agreed though me wonders if they would be red (doppler) or blue hawking
if you could see them theoretically speaking in supercruise at relativistic plus 1C speed(instead of a single white dot @anything traveling@close lightspeed would actually see;)) they would be blue possibly and in normal space red or not visable🤷‍♂️ (ship canopie glass or remlock must have one heluva auto filter lol )

I've seen black hole/main sequence binaries in-game orbiting so closely that I've wondered how it's possible they're not feeding. Alas, an accretion disk means plasma accelerated to relativistic speeds which means making them an actual hazard... which by all indications FDev is reluctant to do for some reason.

Maybe it would be visually cool, but it would be unrealistic.

Stellar-mass black holes don't have accretion discs. Even the few that have a very close companion star that feeds it gas don't have a bright visible one. Maybe, maybe, they have an extremely faint thin accretion disc, but likely too dim to be seen by the naked eye.

The famous black hole from the movie Interstellar, which you show there, is actually realistic (and was mostly simulated quite accurately for the movie), but the thing is: It's a supermassive black hole at the center of a galaxy, not a stellar-mass one. Only those supermassive ones can have a prominent visible accretion disc.

Now, Sagittarius A* might or might not have an accretion disc. We don't know if it does. As far as I know, the physics&math shows that it could be either way. It may well be an accretion-discless black hole, or it might have one. Its depiction in ED isn't actually unrealistic if we assume it doesn't have one.

i could for go the realism for an ocasional one not in the intrests of science as mentioned anything traveling the speed of light wouldnt see much at all at that speed yet elite craft can if we are gona pick holes in realism

Black Holes are actually a sphere on current understanding, could be hard to replicate in game but then as nobody has actually ever really seen one who knows what they are really like.

i heard a sceintific guesstimation that there are roughly 1 supernova events once in every 50 years in our galaxy alone
quite how they come up whith these therories i dunno so those too should be a rare find also based on that guess

time is a strange beast even at the best of times🤷‍♂️

probability of what sag a actually looks like under its current red donut blob (35:32) (of course the images captured probably predate the dinosaurs and then some......)
so we would not know if it's actively feeding at the momment or not?

me wonders if little green men do exist and could travel at mutiples of C by the time they got back home it might not be there
so they probably live in there vessel without the abilty to ever really go home as it was according to our currrent understanding of phisical law govening this verse
space is indeed a lonely place even if you do have the tech to go star hopping any thoughts of home will always be a distant memory if ET could phone home he would be talking to his GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT grandson:giggle:
does every space faring civilisation automatically become a vagrant, vagabond, nomad, drifter, or wanderer
in saying that if they work like elite craft do and no time passes whilst in hyperspace then sign me up for a jaunt as out of the two possibilitys that exsist i def prefer the latter avoiding the relative time eating things like blackhole systems if i wanted to go home in a relative lifetime
