Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

This is fine...

(SC stalwart Petey seems to think there's been a speed nerf. And that it might just have something to do with $ speed blades...)

(The sheer incidentalness of the game-breaking bug is just chef's kiss ;))

EDIT: Lol, he'd only just spawned in 😁. He thinks he's stuck in an asteroid. And also, on a dead server. Forever...

Yep, 0.8 billion raised from ~2.5m paying backers.
Who would've thought that taking screenshots could be so popular.
Calders caught Multiboxing, Bless them.

With Dany stuck in the joint it's up to Tanya to make do. Still learning the ship and the hauling craft. For such a big beast...

It's interior feels quite cosy...

Bunkbeds, galley, lockers, toilets. Everything needed for long stretches in the black.

But no time to feel at home just yet, there's much work to do.

After all, these boxes wont load themselves.

Not a bad first go at it, albeit a bit clumsy. But Old Gerty is all about practicality not looks. Just need to set to the delivery destination!

Fuel check, Hangar clearance, Check! Leaving Loreville at night is always a treat since the city never sleeps.

Not far away, the station above the city is as convenient to citizens...

Size of the ship means we get access to Medium hangars instead of the little ones that we used to get with Betsy.
Had to be careful to not scratch those wide thrusters. A task that Tanya passed with distinction.

Unloading was a breeze thanks to the built-in tractor beam at the rear. A welcomed surprise.

All delivered, contract completed. The first of many of the night!

With new learnings comes new riches.

After a hard day's of hauling, Tanya was done. Logging of in the deep space and see if the bunk-beds are as comfortable as they look.

TBC...

Not if they split the accounts. A ship bought in the Star People China store would not be giftable to an account on Star Citizen Global.
Significantly low(er) jpeg prices does not sound like something CIG wound want to engage in in the first place. Why bother? Chinese players seem to be finding ways to play and pay for the game as is, no? China bar citizen etc.

Yeah true, but they'd probably see more direct $ from reduced official prices at scale than the current greymarket buy-in.

Not sure here, you mean Chinese players can only buy jpegs through grey market? If they can buy the game, a starter pack etc, they should be able to buy anything else in the store, no?

I may be wrong but given Chinese bar citizens etc and contributions in Spectrum by Chinese players, it does not seem like there is any particular restriction over there at the moment, no?

No idea, but that's what that guy is suggesting:

Currently in China buying ships is done mostly in the gray market and the game isn't officially operating here.

Some passing confirmation in the comments too:

I have been a Chinese player for almost 9 years and got my first package and three ships through grey market.

Ah ok, if that is correct that indeed would mean the game is not available for sale at all in China.

And that Chinese players have to actually buy not just jpegs but even actual full accounts through grey market. Which goes against TOS if I am not mistaken? Then find a way to bypass any other controls (if any) and log in.

Either way that would support that new Youtuber statements about game companies coming to China just to evaluate the potential market and build a community…

Workaround Watch:

Someone posted a video of a walkaround and it works. Basically you crawl into the ship and get up when the game starts to crash.
Others have said that walking backwards works, but i've tried and it still crashed.

I walk backwards while looking down on my shoes, it's been working fine for me in this and the last patch. There's a slight blink of darkness and stuttering while transitioning over to the ship but it then it turns normal again.

Just the usual circle-tracing in the Monthly Report BTW

  • Quantum interdiction needs a rework to function with 'server meshing'.
  • They're prototyping the UI for the mission system replacement...
  • The newnewnew flight model reached the 'major milestone' of a 'first-pass implementation'.
  • The transit rework 'continued toward the first playable version'
  • AI reloading, cover use etc still in perpetual rework
  • Ditto AI ship navigation

To fill my recent penchant for Nordic film and TV dramas, I decided to watch a Finnish one...which is rather good but completely unintelligible, even to someone who has a decent ear for languages.

Norwegian, Danish, Icelandic...even Swedish I'm generally fine with. Once I grasp the basic everyday words and phrases like 'Yes, no, please, thank you, hello and goodbye' etc...after half a movie or midway through the first season I usually only need the subtitles for the big words or complicated conversations.

Finnish? Just nah, it doesn't seem to have any commonality with other Nordic or even Germanic/European languages in the slightest. I'm on the 3rd season of Deadwind, a TV crime drama set in Helsinki, really enjoying it, but I'm still struggling past 'yes' and 'no' in the right order without reading the subtitles
A Finn here, Finnish is not indoeuropean language so apart from loan words it IS completely different. A very different grammar, a lot of weird words and so on.
