Team / Squadron issues

Hi,

I was playing online with 2 friends today and we seemed to encounter a lot of problems relating to teams / squadrons.

I'd set up a squadron and we all joined it but I don't think we really used any squadron functionality.

We all joined a team though and jumped in a ship which I flew to another port.

Once we docked, one of the players seemed to experience a problem with disembarking, where he was instantly teleported to the concourse. The other two of us disembarked and used the lift, we could see the one who'd teleported when we got there though.

However when we came to return to the ship, the player who had teleported could not access my ship via the lifts. It just said he had no accessible ships. He was still shown as in the team.

We then each tried to quit and come back in but after that just couldn't see him, even though he was still there in his own game. We were all using open play.

Then we tried private group play and eventually we all got connected again, joined my ship and we flew to a settlement.

We did what we needed to do at the settlement but again, when it came to time to leave, the player who had teleported back in the station couldn't see the blue circle to board the ship. The other two of us could see it, and we could still see him. He was still in the team.

Eventually the two of us who could board the ship did so, blasted out to hyperspace, came back to the settlement and this time the 3rd player could see the blue circle.

However, the player who had come out into hyperspace and back now had issues, his game had half crashed, he could see audio but his screen had gone black and he got no disembark menu. So he then had to quit and come back in, but when he came back he couldn't see either of us.

We then went back into hyperspace and back again, when finally he could see us and we could all leave together.

Is this expected behaviour? Is there anything we were doing wrong?! Do I perhaps need to open any ports if I'm hosting a team? It was me who initiated the team by inviting the other two, and it was my ship that we travelled in.

Hopefully there's something I can do, because it was a very frustrating experience!

Nope, it's working as expected. Your experience is exactly why spending resources on making MMO trappings like Vanguards is premature. The basics aren't there for it.

Physical mult-icrew is awesome when it works, it rarely does...

Have you all given your PCs static IP addresses (not auto assigned via DCHP) and then selected a dedicated port for ED and opened this port up through your firewalls?

Well, I have! But they're not so technical - one of them has lost the password for his router and I'm not sure the other one fancies it!

Just something we've spotted from playing around with it - we seem to encounter a lot more issues if we're in a squadron and a team at the same time. They both left the squadron and we continued in a team, and it seemed much more stable.

Thanks for all the help and pointers everyone!

Best to fly your own individual ships to a team location (or even better use drop ships, for CZs, and Apex for everything else, where available).
I don't play with my squadron though, only an individual ad-hoc Team.
