The grind is real!

Spent my first hour trying to deliver a cargo run to Ross 765, scanned 3 systems for about 10K total "on the way", allowed myself to get interdicted 6 times which all paid out around a 2K bounty (lots of them didn't even have shields on their ships), picked up my own bounty by mistake after shooting at a pirate first...and in the end I failed to deliver the cargo because of jump range so had to pay another fine.

It's been quite a bit different to my usual beta game tbh.

Exploration pays some good money. Just do some scans, you don't have to detail scan every planet/moon. :)

Early on the pirates are basically unshielded eagles and the odd sidewinder with shields. Anyone should be able to take them out in the startwinder without too much trouble. If you are in any way reasonable at dogfighting you should just let the interdictions roll in to start with while scanning and delivering cargo.

I'm loving the Kickstarter bonus starting rewards.
  1. Reset your save and choose KS Explorer profile
  2. Sell discovery hardware + free Eagle
  3. Profit
;)

What about those who specifically do not want to engage in combat. Or happen to be in a Hauler or Type-6.

This plus if you get ballsy there are some good bounties out there. Canned a 12k Asp earlier so that put me back in the money.

My very first mission was 10K credits, I was amused, haven't seen a 10K-er since.

Might I suggest you locate your Eagle and sell it for 40K CR and then do something else entertaining? Maybe mine or something.

I'll be honest, when I heard we'd be starting with the traditional 100Cr, I thought "oh, this is going to take *forever*".

Nevertheless, started playing three hours ago - took some mass-hauling missions, just freighting 3 or 4 tons of scrap around in my Sidey. Scanned some planetary systems. Bounced off the edge of my jump range, remembered that I'm going to be stuck in the local cluster until I get more ship. Flew over to where my Freagle was parked, flogged it, just bought a hauler.

In three hours.

So, um.... YAY!!

You need to go back to a station then sell the data you scanned under the "cartographics" tab.

OMG I did not know this!!!!!!!

Yeah I noticed it by mistake one day when I scanned something I hadn't intended to.

I guess you know about setting up a fire group for the scanner as well? After that's done you just select it then hold down the fire button and you should pick up nearby objects.
