JWE3 Confirmed and Suspected returning species at launch

The base game has 80+ species. The hard Film Canon, CC & what's known is 50 species. Including JPOG and common accessory Canon brings it up to 65. The non-canon stuff so far is JWE2 DLC, so there might be bias to that (modern models, incentive to buy JWE3 instead of JWE2 DLC). There is likely a few new species too, so it's not huge wiggle room. It seems to me like Rebirth will be a DLC, given the FAQ dodges the question.

These next few months will be such a time, speculating whom will be returning from the previous titles. I was going to make a list earlier on which animals are more likely to get axed, but the more I worked on it, the more I realized how grim it is.

Like figuring out what 20 animals get cut? Sure, easy peasy, anyone could do that. But the moment you approach 30 or even reach 40, you might be cutting some popular choices, some of your favorites might get cut as well!

Also, I will mention this before anything cause it occurred to me yesterday when thinking of who goes and who stays...

If Maiasaura gets cut from Jurassic World Evolution 3, well, it will be ironic for the good mother lizard to be left out of the game where she could actually be a mother now wouldn't it?

Due to there will be infant dinosaurs in the new game, it is best we get to see the Maiasaura nesting colony and caring for its young. Furthermore, Maiasaura appeared in all the original novels.

I guess we will get all of the species which appeared in movies and television series and additional most of the species which are mentioned in the novels or movies. For the Rest let us hope for a good balance of beloved species. I think nobody will ve missing hated designs like Deinonychus for the example. Not all species are going ro have infants, so i guess this will be the case for the tiny species in the game or the hybrids.

Pachyrhinosaurus was in Camp Cretaceous. Tylosaurus in Jurassic Park : The Game. Cearadactylus was in the first novel and Plesiosaurus was mentioned in Jurassic World nearby rhe holos.

So let us hope in the base games roster are all new additions from Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory as well. Means we would get Tarbosaurus, Scorpios rex, Monolophosaurus, Suchomimus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Spinoceratops, Kentrosaurus, Majungasaurus, Becklespinax and Smilodon.

The species we will see in JW: Rebirth i guess will be featured in the games first dlc. Known new species from this movie are Titanosaurus, Aquilops, Spinosaurus (Variant), Mosasaurus (Variant), Quetzalcoatlus (Variant), Distortus rex and Mutadon so far.

I'm very sad some dinosaurs are canon in Jurassic Park, but I kinda hope they won't be used ever again, like the ATROCIOUS, Atrociraptor, what a waste of space and what a stealer of a spot for an actual worth-it dinosaur...

Also I hope all these strange hybrids (other than Indomius Rex and Indoraptor) are all OUT, also Scorpios Rex and Spinoceratops, away with them, add it in a Cartoon-DLC later on so I can SKIP it.

Other than those, I really hope they cut Albertosaurus, Aeateaeraeraeraeraeraeraeraeraeraraeragimimus, Segisaurus (keep Coelophisis), and Metriacanthosaurus (from which they only found one bone years ago and still in 2025 nothing else has been found, Jurassic Park 1 just used it to sound interesting) and the trio Asian Stegosaurs from the game.

Not a fan of boring sauropods like Apatosaurus and Diplodocus, but I understand those have many fans and are nostalgica-lures so they must be in...

I also hope we get Plateosaurus, Psittacosaurus, Rhizodus, Shantungosaurus, Heterodontosaurus, Sarcosuchus and Maskiasaurus at launch, a smaller more accurate Therizinosaur variant wouild be cool as well, and the monster fish with the Xan-beginnging.

Some new Megaraptor, and Bajadasaurus instead of Amargasaurus

If Styracosaurus is cut there will be wars.

This may be more of a hopeful wish than a theory from my end, but I have a feeling that the default roster of the game would be prime to add dinosaurs later down the line should Frontier choose to do so.

The assumption that the base 82 dinosaurs covers, canon, iconic, and some new dinosaurs has a good coverage of niche dinosaurs. If frontier were to include them later, I think they would be easier to implement if their "template" dinosaur already has the rigs ready to modify to apply the new dinosaurs.

Like I have a gut feeling that Tsintaosaurus and possibly Olorotitan are to be cut, but because the canon dinosaur Parasaurolophus is already in the game, it would be easier to implement them later down the line since all bipedal hadrosaurs are virtually the same aside from models and sizes.

There are a large number of dinosaurs that have a template dinosaur to work from:

  • Carcharadontosaurus and Giganotosaurus share the same rig
  • Monolophosaurus and the Herrerasaurus share the same rig
  • Torosaurus, and Penta are derived from Triceratops
  • Chasmosaurus and Styrachosaurus use the same rig
  • Plesiosaurus, Elasmosaurus and Styxosaurus use the same rig as Attenboroughsaurus (Evo Square mentioned she saw the Attenboroughsaurus as a decoration)
  • Megalosaurus uses the same rig as Metricanthosaurus
  • Camarasaurus and I believe Alamosaurus uses the same rig as Brachiosaurus
  • Nigersarus and Amargasarus use the same rig
  • Archeornithomimus and Struthiomimus uses the gallimimus rig (I firmly believe that struthiomimus would be available again)
  • Dracorex uses the same rig as Pachycephalosaurus and Stygymoloch
  • Edmontosaurus and Maiasaura use the same rig
  • Nodosaurus, Sauropelta, and Polocanthus use the same rig
  • Deinonychus is basically Velociraptor
  • Gigantspinosaurus, Hwayangosaurus, and I believe Chungkingosaurus use the same rig
  • Ceolophysis, Troodon, and Proceratosaurus use the same rig
  • Cearadactylus, Maaradactylus, Tropeognathus, and I believe Tapejara, Barbaradactylus and Desungarepterus use the same rig as Pteranodon
There could be more that I have missed, but what I am hopeful is that by introducing the fan favorite and canon animals first, all major and familiar rigs are already in the game, for both Adults and Juveniles. This would mean that any additional species in the future should be easier to implement should they decide to do so, as the models for either adult is ready from JWE2, with only work needed to do a Juvenile and the opposite gender adult.

The wishful part is that I hope this would come as free updates over time to Jurassic World Evolution 3, a la the Fallen Kingdom and Nasutoceratops in JWE1, and the free variants in JWE2. Some could be suitable for paid DLC, but most do not seem to be that enticing when told to purchase them again. I do not think all will return, but to have a free family or two alongside major DLC would be a great means to entice players to come to JWE3 over the support period to play with the """"New"""" dinosaurs, and be tempted to purchase any DLC that launched alongside these additions.

It would be interesting to see what Frontier has planned ahead. Planet Zoo for example would have DLC that would not only introduce animals, but also dedicated scenarios and sometimes new customizable items. Given that JWE3 will be more comparable with Planet Zoo than ever before, maybe new DLC would entice players with not only new dinosaurs, but customizable items as well.

Again this is all early speculation from my end, if the roster at launch covers a solid list of dinosaurs with more unique rigs and the inclusion of more JWE2 DLC, then that alone will make me happy.

Yes Xiphactinus would be nice addition but i wouldn't expect it at launch.

Dsungaripterus is no longer in the "confirmed" category, as the skulls in the hacking segment of the trailer are Adobe stock images, such as this:

Ugh... calling something confirmed because of background elements and props is stupid... when we see the actual animal in game, then we can call them confirmed...
