New ship: Panther Clipper

My T10 miner won't become obsolete. I lack the mental endurance to mine even 512t in one go, let alone even more. The T10 has just the right size to be filled and heading home before I get annoyed. The T9 though has already been mostly obsolete for anyone, except those who do not want to do the rank grind for the Cutter. And the Cutter can take on other roles.
Agree 100%. Though for the recent mining community goal I mined with the T-9 and transfer the platinum to the Cutter for transport duty. Worked perfectly.
T10 is and always be my favourite mining ship.

I've used the T-10 for mining, it's great to use as a miner in a res with a fighter along for the extro profit.

I recently used the Corsair for mining and was very pleased with it. It's so agile as you move around the asteroids it's pure joy to fly and with 3 mining mining lasers it fills up fast.

Exactly we can have our own version of the classic car meet up! :ROFLMAO:

That's certainly one thing to do with them.

fdev pls introduce new ED engineer only for Panther Clipper cargo racks capacity, so player can increase it to 2000T

They could do that.
Maybe some sort of experimental Mass Management related Upgrade for Cargo Racks.
Obviously, carrying 1,000 Tons of Tea, and 1,000 Tons of Platinum, they are going to take up different amounts of Space (Volume).
Maybe they could introduce special Cargo Racks that specialise in Metals and Minerals, allowing 1.5x Boost to Cargo Capacity of those Types.

1000 tons being a 30% increase from any trade ship which has come before and presumably SCO optimised as well.

that said my money is still on around the 1200 tons area .. but it's just a guess

the challenge FD face is if it's too much it will totally ruin everything to do with trade runs and CGs with anything except the PC
the only reason we potentially need such huge capacity is for colonisation. I would rather FD worked on adding features to colonisation that we could upgrade rather than throwing every trade ship in the game under the bus just because of 1 feature.

either way... it won't be a flop with 1000 tons usable . every space trucker in the game will get one and it will be a must in trade CGs.

all 1000tons won't do is make colonising by building an orbis solo any less painful. but like I said IF FD wants to reduce that pain there are better ways to do it than just give us a 2000ton + hauler

Well they release a Haul-A-Thon feature and then low and behold out of nowhere they announce the long-awaited rebirth of the Panther Clipper. I can't imagine that wasn't intentional. I agree with you in principle there are better ways they could reduce the pain, but FDEV seems pretty adamant Colonization is "feature complete", so I can't hope for or suggest a new feature to ease the pain. We have only two viable paths:

1. Massively reduce the materials required to colonize systems
2. Massively increase our hauling capabilities

Again the announcement of the Panther Clipper MKII tells me our hopes rest on #2. Bring on the 2000+ to hauler!! :)

I feel like if we sit here and worry about ships being made obsolete or losing their current status, we'll never get new ships. Or we get new ships but they're basically just re-skins with no meaningful distinctions.

power creep is inevitable in any game with long term evolving content.

I am on board with it absolutely.... but i would rather power creep than power sprint.
in real life OTOH not so much ;)

Are we there yet?

When Frontier introduced the pre-Built ships, I hated the idea. When the PC was announced, I started entertaining the idea of buying it as soon as it was available.

Frontier, shut up and take my ARX, I need some serious space truckin'.
