Planet Zoo | Asia Animal Pack | Announcement

Some great animals here! Really excited for the deer and the antelope, and of course the honey badger.
But that elephant. Not only is it the worst possible pick, it does not look good. The base game elephants look BETTER. Which is crazy. They had the easiest job, and yet they still messed it up. It makes this pick even more of a slap in the face.
We could’ve had an asiatic lion, sumatran orangutan, an actual worthwhile clone. But this is actually dreadful.
That having been said, the rest of the pack seems good. Just really really tainted by the (badly picked and badly modelled) elephant unfortunately.

That's fine not to like it, but the constant griping about it and how it's abysmal gets tiresome, especially to those that are genuinely happy about it. It's not even feedback at that point, just complaints
How would you feel if everyone else got what they wanted, but you only got a slap in the face?
That's how I've felt for the past few packs.
Almost none of the animals I wanted made it into the game, and the ones that did (such as Blackbuck) are thrown into the worst possible packs imaginable, so I can't get one of my favourite animals without having to pay for yet another dog.

I have to say, this pack looks a lot better than I expected!

Bornean Elephant: My only major complaint in an otherwise pretty solid pack. Just . . . why? It wasn't wanted, and it wasn't needed. 2/10 because it looks good at least.
Honey Badger: Provides both Asian and African representation, and isn't just a reskin of the Wolverine. 8/10
Lion-Tailed Macaque: I have to say, I am loving how many primates we're getting lately, and this is yet another excellent primate choice. 9/10
Pere David's Deer: It's a deer, I don't have a whole lot to say about it, but is a very important animal for conservation. 7/10
Japanese Racoon Dog: The one canid that I still felt was needed, so I'm happy we're getting it. 8/10
Blackbuck: The community would have rioted if we didn't get it in an Asia-centric pack, and I'm happy to see it myself, especially how lacking Asia has been with ungulates. 8/10
Nilgai: This was my sleeper pick for this pack, and I'm glad to see a more unique looking ungulate included. 8/10
Malabar Rose Butterfly: I know it's included in the free update and not the DLC, but I'm so happy we have a walkthrough exhibit species for the base game now! 7/10

You're literally talking to the guy that's had 3 or 4 packs perfect for a gray fox sonce 2021 and we get something else, like a coyote. I don't care, I'm more happy for others than for my own wants. Only in recent packs have I actually truly gotten animals I've wanted, but it took years and several packs before I'd get anything.
But being happy for others is way way way better than being mad that I didn't get what I wanted. You not only make others happy, you feel better too

Seeing other people happy only reminds me of how unhappy I am with the outcome. "Being happy for others" only makes everything actively worse.

For your sake, at least they didn't add Sumatran rhinos 😛
I'd have preferred the Tibetan fox. It has the most beautiful face

Well, I hated the Pallas Cat at the time. I told my opinion on it and then moved on. But I understood that it was a popular pick, so how could I be mad at it?

It is the same in your case, do not hold a grudge man, it will only make you more miserable.
If only they made it the mainland species, then I wouldn't have been so mad.
But since A) it's basically non-existent outside of japan and B) it (most likely) doesn't climb, I have all the reasons to be mad

I would also prefer the mainland species, but according to my knowledge, they are basically the same visually, it should be relatively easy to just ignore the “japanese” part in their name.
And we do not know it is not going to climb, better wait for confirmation on that and then be mad.

I get your dissapointment...
...when Tropical was announced and I saw the Monitor partially revealed, I was very depressed... LOL, its funny how depressed I got over a video game. I was probably too vocal about the AWM, looking back.

Where's the proof it won't climb?
We assumed the sifaka won't hop: it hops. We assumed the Bush dog wouldn't deep dive: it deep dives.
You mentioned the pangolin, but the base game is severely outdated with updating its animals anyways. And the monitor was all around weird because the pack itself was weird
