I started to continue organizing the photos I took during the January vacation.

Amazing photos. That is alot of primates, are those from several zoos or just one?
This is a collection of primates from four zoos in Guangdong Province, China, but the main contributors are Guangzhou Zoo and Chimelong Safari Park. However, neither of them has the largest collection of primates in Chinese zoos. At some point in the future, I will share with the community the zoos with the largest collection of primates in China.

Here is a best of from my recent visit to Tierpark Berlin.

The newest addition - a male southern lesser kudu who just arrived a few weeks ago from Dvur Kralove. I'm sure more kudus will follow.

I also made some pictures of the huge construction site of the elephant house. I hope the pictures will give you an impression how large this area is going to be. Two of the three outdoor habitats look already quite finished but the whole entrance area is not finished at all. On the inside at least the basic structures are done according to newspapers. We'll see if the shedulded opening in one year will work, here in Germany you never know and the opening is already three years delayed.

Went to Orana Park today with my boy again. I did what I always do - took a picture of a gorilla, sent it to my sister, and said, "What are you doing here?"

Besides that, their ruffed lemurs have finally been let out onto their newly refurbished island, so that was awesome to see, and they have two baby zebras - first time seeing them - and a baby siamang (' adorable).

Also, I have hilariously been assuming they're trying to breed lions again. Turns out what I thought, naturally, was a male was actually a very old female. Like other mammals, female lions produce more testosterone in their old age, so she has a luxurious mane, and is quite large. The ironic thing is they do have two males, and have for years, but they're neutered so don't have manes (I already knew that, though). Kind of funny that their two males are maneless and their old female has a mane.

Anyway, it made me want to play again, so I'll probably do that tomorrow night. I'm on night shift for the next fortnight so to prepare my body and fragile psyche for all that nonsense I'll be up literally all night long tomorrow and Sunday.

What a weird lion management they have.

So within the month I have visited three separate zoos:
  • The Sunset Zoo in Manhattan Kansas
  • The Topeka Zoo in Topeka Kansas
  • And the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska
Over all each zoo was good, with the Henry Doorly Zoo becoming my favorite zoo I have ever been to. The Sunset Zoo is very small, so ranking it against the others would be unfair. The Topeka Zoo is a good medium sized zoo, and the Henry Doorly Zoo is absolutely massive in size!

I’ll be honest I’m not gonna be posting too many photos, it can be kind of annoying having to download each one off my phone and then resize the photo to fit the format of the forum. But I would say the Henry Doorly Zoo is 100% worth the visit! If you have time the Topeka Zoo and Sunset Zoo are cute too.

I was just catching up on this thread earlier and saw you mentioning Omaha, but didn't want to respond to a month+ old post. It's one of the top US zoos I want to see, but I'm not sure when that will finally wind up happening - certainly no time soon. Doing the whole thing in 4 hours sounds incredibly fast paced given its size and reputation, did you feel rushed at all or did you feel like you had a decent opportunity to see everything you wanted to?

I saw everything I wanted to see, I could easily spend all day there! It was more this was my first time at the zoo, and I was there by myself. So I kind of ran through the zoo a bit haha. I didn’t feel rushed, but it was super busy!
