Would like to see the colonization range increase to 20 ly

I will state that having to build a bunch of T1 garbage systems is not stopping people from racing across the galaxy dumping such systems but is rather making so many more of them a necessity. This colonization distance simply is not meeting what I believe was its intended goal; rather, it is leading to a great deal of space pollution.

I agree that the range needs to increase, but I think a Colonization module on a fleet carrier that allows to colonize a system where your fleet carrier is would be better. Though make it balanced in some way by something like requiring it to be connected to a relay station in a system you've already made so the colonization factions and ship will come from that system. Or something like the further away you get from a populated system the more it cost to make a colony in resources and/or credit cost.

I like simple approaches, less to go wrong or exploit, a small increase in the maximum range could do wonders though without satisfying those who want to build anywhere.

Or they could let us have a few thousand ly, but we have to fully (or at least mostly) build out a system beforen we're allowed to colonize the next one.

Then as a workaround people would be fully colonising systems that consist of a single star only.

Easily solved by Fdev making it so that only stations in system of a certains size and up would sell the colonisation beacon; meaning you couldn't use a one star system as a step stone. And even if they didn't, it would still be better than having tens of thousands of pointless systems with a single outpost so someone could get to where they actually wantet to build.

Another idea:
Allow for colonization ANYWHERE, but in systems which are not daisy-chained to a well-established system, you have to bring in some upkeep goods. If you don't, the stations and settlements slowly decomission themselves.

You could make a self-sustainable economy to avoid having to provide upkeep or you could just daisy chain to the Bubble as usual.
