Planet Zoo | Asia Animal Pack | Announcement

I Great texture but missing hair and fuzz.
I was about to say the same. A bit of a bummer because otherwise all animals of this pack look absolutely incredible, in terms of quality it's one of the best that Frontier ever made, I think. The nilgai is outstanding in particular.

The scenery, however, is again nothing that excites me. It's like Zookeeper's 3.0. We could have gotten new plants or a new exhibit animal (cobra!) instead. A few pieces seem useful though for decoration but its just too many festive themed and niche pieces.
Still, I can't wait to get the pack myself!

Yeah but if you want to make the argument of this game pushing a conservation message you cant do stuff like that or otherwise you loose all credibilty.
Which is also why frontier would turn themselves into laughing stock if they ever added hybrids
Frankly that message went out the window the second they added llamas and especially dingos, but that's a story for another time

Asian elephant subspecies are so heavily debated that it isn't really worth keeping them segregated at the subspecies levels. I've heard that many zoos keep multiple subspecies together anyways, so it's not even an unrealistic approach.
And it's not like hybrids are a thing in PZ anyways (at least, they didn't make it to the finished game)
I'm pretty sure I've read that zoos (or EAZA zoos at least) want to separate at least the island subspecies from the mainland Asian elephant which basically will lead to a phase out of the few island elephants in Europe. The two Bornean elephants in Europe (one female each in Hannover and Pairi Daiza are not allowed to breed anymore afaik). Then there is a small pure breeding herd of Sumatran elephants in Madrid, I don't know what will happen to them but apparently the EAZA wants to be a bit more careful about the elephant subspecies situation.
But in general you are right and zoos don't give that much attention for subspecies pure elephant herds.

I feel like the two elephants don't have interspecies enrichment simply because in real life (with the correct range) they wouldn't overlap.
Or maybe they're just trying real hard to push the Bornean elephant as a separate distinct animal

And yet, both Asian elephant subspecies get inter-species enrichment from the proboscis monkey even though those are endemic to Borneo

The videos make me even happier we got the Nilgai and seeing all these creators open up to it is warming my heart. This is why I push hard for ungulates and animals that the general public doesn’t know. Sure they all know dogs and elephants but when an animal like the Nilgai is done right and so great it gives people a new appreciation for an animal from our natural world they didn’t know before. Definitely one of my surprises in how great it was handled and I think it’s my early runner for best in the pack

Honestly, Frontier did a phenomenal job with the Nilgai. The animal itself is quite distinct from all the other antelopes in appearance, and the devs made it feel even more unique by giving it access to enrichment items that you don't usually see associated with antelopes in the game, such as the mud bath and the hanging barrel feeder
(Also it looks AMAZING.)

You mean, Takin and Pere Davids Deer? lol
Or what about the capybara and the Galapagos tortoise for whatever reason?
It's definitely not a dealbreaker, just kinda odd that there's so much inconsistency for what mixes provide the coveted enrichment bonus or not.
Yeah, and honestly you don't even need the interspecies enrichment to house 2 different animals together anyways

Blackbuck not getting interspecies with the Indian Elephant is sad, I mean, I am gonna mix them nevertheless, but this is a real thing (more then mixing them with wild buffalos, that are not in Captivity anywhere lol)
I’m happy they have the enrichment though. Animal kingdoms blackbuck and (domestic) water buffalo habitat (and bar headed Geese, RIP Eld’s Deer) is a major inspiration for me

this was probably already talked about but i would love the elephants 10x more if they had some fur on their bodies, especially juveniles. It would really distinguish them from the other 2. Rest of the pack i really love since i am a hoofstock fan.

After looking the Videos from Leaf and Cesar Creates I can say that all animals within the Pack Look really great. The Secret Star of the Pack seems to be the Nilgai to me. The male Just Looks so majestic and the leucistic color variation is so awesome. But also the other animals are Just so great. Looking forward to get hands on the Pack in a few hours by myself.
