In real life there's much more ways for people to group up, socialize and communicate like chat rooms. That's what Elite needs. Just a chat room with many people would make ED a lot more fun.
Yes, also

What a total people should really stop arguing it's "like life" "make your way" "it's what you make of it"
Elite is definitely not brillant, definitely not ready for release.
FD is on the right track but y'all gotta stop being this blind. If you think this is a brillant game you're gonna have a big surprise with AAA title nowadays old folks :d
Some people are easily statisfied. Throw them a bone and they think its gonna turn into a dinosaur if they just belive hard enough.

Pardon my ignorance, the game is beautiful, controls tight, feel is great
But
What is there to do a part from jump to a system to another with some cargo, rinse and repeat woth some random pew pew and little interdiction mini-game?
Is not to flame, if that is what it is then that is ok, I just want to understand and manage my expectations.
I find a certain lack of focus or direction in the game. For example, with the factions would we be able to become military pilots and run military missions, potentially from an hub space station?
I liked the alpha-demo combat gameplay and I feel that if I want to fight battles I just have to wait in supercruise until I get interdicted
Am I playing the game wrong?

LOL. Sorry, I know you're being serious and, from a modern gaming perspective, I truly understand your pov. From my perspective you have summed up ED in a nutshell. That's what it was like back in '84 and, 30 years later, we're doing the same thing except with a bit more spit and polish.
Welcome to the ED universe!

I see, thanks for your reply
I mean even Wing Commander felt like there was something to do and progress.
Here you only have peanuts credit missions really.
Is the point seriously running from one system to the other 300 times to get the Anaconda..say..and then what?
You can always pick a faction to support in their combat operations. Use the in game information services to locate where the conflicts are, then travel there, register with the faction you wish to support and enter the fight. There you go, your career is now supporting your chosen faction in battle.
I am really upset at those that are complaining to be honest..
There is a team of devs out there going all out to make this products and all you can do it's sit behind your screen and moan and complain... I would LOVE to see you come up with a 10th of this quality and doing so that it is worth even looking at. IF you can, there why are you maining and not applying to FD and making it happy.
You bunch of un-grateful people... enjoy what you have, you obviously don't deserve it..
(rant off)
(this wasn't at the OP by the way)

I just think such a big and beautiful space game would be much more appealing if it gave some more options
For instance, being part of the patrol forces as a "career"
As I perceive it now the core mechanic is a credit grind towards the next ship..and yes, exploration of space for exploration's sake.
Feels a bit empty and wish they added stuff while making one of the most interesting space themed games.
