COMPLETED CG Join Aisling Duval's Call To Arms (Combat)

Not fiighting in this part of the CG, but I am loving it.

Ugh. To be honest, I hate this. Being forced to farm impossibly tanked tiny ships is such an enormous slog.

Anyone have tips for which ship and setup does this best? I'm thinking slugconda, but I'm open to suggestions.
It didn't feel to me like the ships were any tankier than in other CZs. The usual CZ rules apply - don't rush in the middle, have situal awareness, and don't bring a peashooter. I did two passes in the LYR part of the CG last night, first in a Pacifier Python II, and when that got boring, went and got my powerplay Corsair - so not a combat optimized buid - and put six Concord Cannons on it. I died twice because I hit the megaship with the Pacifiers, other than that I'd say it's a normal medium CZ, only it never ends.

On that topic: The three CZs in Gondul are all medium, is this for all the CZs on these CGs, or are others different? I only fought in Gondul last night.

I think from what I've read elsewhere all Powerplay CZs are medium. Not sure why. Are they intended to take so much longer than normal ones? It's nice that you can land at the megaship and rearm without leaving the fight, but I ran out of ammo twice and was almost dry on the third before it ended. That's way more than the regular high CZs.

It somehow put me in the top 25%, which is good. I don't expect I'll stay there, but at least it will be enough to offset the rebuy I had to use. Important safety tip: do not accidentally shoot the megaship! It trashed my fully engineered Corvette in about five seconds lol.

I think it's intended that they run forever. I didn't get any "special events", both Spec Ops and War Corospondents show up unanounced and without an extra task. I didn't need to pick a side, just start shooting.

Hmm, that's strange. I didn't need to pick a side. It automatically tagged the non-Duval ships as hostile. But I was getting the coms announcements when spec ops and such showed up and the kill tracker thing at the top right, which did eventually fill up and say we'd won. It just took a very long time.

Mind you, I've also seen people say you don't need to hand your bonds in for it to count. They should automatically be added to your contribution. But I had to go back to the home station and hand them in before they counted, so maybe something is not working right for me.

Didn't even do that for me. I showed up, and all ships were neutral. Only when I attacked the first Aisling ship, all other Aislings turned red.

Curious. I didn't. They were just there, and I didn't get any notification. The CZ I was in ran as long as I was there - a little over an hour, I think. Maybe this new CG concept still has a few bugs to be ironed out 😁

I said that too :D. My contribution on the CG page kept going up without me handing in the bonds.

Perhaps it works differently if you're on the defending side like I was?

If you're pledged to either side, you automatically get put on that side. If you're not pledged to either, then you can just start shooting.

As a non-pledged, the display is kind of bugged. No popups for bonds in the UI nor the journal. No UI for the PPCZ.

However, the special events do happen. Spec ops' weapons are easy to see, for example. I got spec ops last night.

oh, I didn't think of the pledged status. I am not pledged to either side, and I get none of the typical CZ UI.

Per above, the UI for these CZ seems broken. Double check in your transactions panel. I didn't get any notifications about bonds either, but they kept coming.
Yea, gave it a lot of time to "catch up". Finally decided to try the "log out and in" and that did it. So not wasting time at least.

Shield generator attacks are quite annoying. No matter how much shields you have, no matter how many and how strong shield boosters you have, your shields go down in seconds. After that the conflict is over for you quite quickly before you have to leave or get destroyed...

Curiously, this is the first time I see such an attack in the game. I'm used for my plentiful of shields to last for 5-10 minutes of combat before they go down. Now when such an attack starts they go down in mere seconds. Frustrating.

The only shield generator attacks I have suffered were from the station guns after accidently shooting the station. Sure that's not it? So far, for me in the CZ I was playing in, there were no NPCs that destroyed your shields in seconds.

You must have hit the station.

Oy, not your fight, lady.

Could be.
When in doubt, check your journal. You'll find entries similar to this:

Code:
{ "timestamp":"2025-07-03T20:29:45Z", "event":"ReceiveText", "From":"Obsidian Directive", "Message":"$STATION_AccidentalDamage;", "Message_Localised":"Watch where you're firing, Commander! You have been warned!", "Channel":"npc" }
[...]
{ "timestamp":"2025-07-03T20:29:54Z", "event":"Died", "KillerName":"Obsidian Directive", "KillerShip":"megashipdocka" }

"Obsidian Directive" being the station that obliterated me.

Well played, Frontier. I was this close to putting the game back down to go finish FF7 Rebirth, or replay Baldur's Gate 3, or see if Stormgate is any better now, or dive back into StarCraft 2, or (...) And I thought I'd have my CMDR fly out to Colonia in his Cobra during the brief times I checked back in.

But you, they, keep doing enough with Community Goals to keep me invested. They deserve some credit for that, they've been on a roll with them for months now.

Doing alright with this one. I can't be arsed to deal with reloads for these long-ass CZs so I've taken out my Beam Python 2 and it's serving me well. You really feel the tankiness of those hulls trying to wear 'em down with lasers but it is what it is. Swearing under my breath everytime a LYR ship tucks tail back to the megaship but I don't take the bait because I don't wanna meet god today. So long as I can avoid getting a whole spec ops wing up my ass I come out with lots of bonds and merits.

I don't know if this is intended but I noticed that the entire enemy fleet, specs ops and all, jumps down my throat when I return from flying away to deploy an SLF. This is repeatable.

In any case, the Corsair is now available to all for CR only, announced via X (I have no idea why they don't repeat the message here on the official forums). Time to build a new bird and take her out for a spinnnnnNNNN
