Modular item placement

I've noticed that when you build a modular building, giftshop or restaurant, you cannot advance move the items and the items do not go to the very edge of the paths. Please allow better placement of items that snap to paths. If and item is required to be on a path advanced move should snap items to the edge and continue to follow the pointer around the edge. disabling advances move hinders the player.

Edit for clarity:
When placing selves for the modular souvenir shop, they do snap to the edge, but there is a large gap between the edge and the shelf. So when you've built a building around those items you either have to be OK with guest clipping into walls, or with shelves floating off the walls.

And with restaurants, booths and tables only snap on one side. A booth for example only snaps the back of a seat to the edge of that path and there is still a gap. I would argue that most booths are aligned to an edge so that the seats are accessible from one side.

In both cases the advanced move options would be really nice. Not to fix the snapping issues, but to do things like align two shelves back to back or two booths next to each other. With items that require a path, the advanced move should have boundaries that align to the path edges.

uh it snaps exactly to the the edge, you can use mutliselect an item by i and then advance move it, works with every beside single track pieces. I wouldnt mind to have advanced move as an option as long as the 'path mode' is still there as it sometimes help to allign items directly to a path in 90° not 89 or 91 when you eyeball it.

i think we have two aspects here where frontier could improve this for us, give us a bit more workflow.
one would be a toggle key like lets say, placing shelves snaps to edge of paths, but holding down "alt" for example would disable the snap. that way we can quickly toggle between free placing and snap placing. the second thing would be to allow us to advance move place the shelves. many times i want to build like 3-4 shelves next to each other, or also other situations where i want to use advance move to place stuff or copy around. it would be great to not have to waste time to leave the shop menu, open multiselect and have to advance copy place or similiar.
just some simple suggestions for some QOL improvements for this new feature... but yeah we already know how much frontier cares to implement QOL stuff we ask so i guess we wont see this changed for atleast another 3-4 months or so :)

i would be all for it, to toggle between diffrent placement methods, you could even expand it to make gridded items non gridded. Not sure if it would work for non grid to become gridded.

So yes all for it :)

Sorry for the confusion, I should have been more clear. When placing selves for the modular souvenir shop, they do snap to the edge, but there is a large gap between the edge and the shelf. And yes! multi-select is horrible in all aspects of building. It's really confusing, sometimes I can press ctrl or shift to multiple select/deselect, and others I cannot and I have to use the multiselect tool. I really wish this functionality was consistent throughout the game.

A little bit of a visual thing, I think it's snapping to the curb/kerb. Toggling it off makes it invisible more than it removes it. Hence why it's away from the edge. (though the shelving snap looks a bit far, the bench is right at that curb/kerb edge.) I, however, whole-heartedly agree that it'd be nice to swap between basic and advance move when placing the items, rather than backing out and using the multi-select tool. I'd also like snapping on all the shelves.
