SCO to utilise Supercruise Assist auto-throttle

ive found that i use SCO to reach stations no matter how far, but i end up overshooting or undershooting quite badly since SCO doesnt have supercruise assist auto-throttle or auto-alignment. would this be an option that benefits the game? or does it seem too cheaty

I have found that I am getting much better at judging how soon to disengage the SCO* but before that skill improved I had the distinct impression that the loop of oops I overshot seemed to take much less time than messing up the old fashioned way.

I would say adding SCA to SCO would be too cheaty but then I think that about SCA anyway, SCO not working with it is one of SCO’s plus points.

*Not usually being in a rush or suffering from time limits means I am not unhappy to drop early.

After some practice I find I can manage every time no matter how near or far, but then I have never used SCA in any of my ships for any reason at all, the extra practice in flying in and managing speeds and time pays off in the end.

One of the benefits of the new ships is how badly the old ones handled in SCO. That's completely negated if you have SCA keeping the ship locked on target. It would probably affect fuel usage and heat generated as well.

The best time to drop out of SCO is just before the target starts hurtling towards you. :) I realise this isn't awfully helpful but you will start to get a feel for it, and it also helps a lot if you learn how to do a spiralling 5-seconds (or faster) approach.

The other thing is, if you have just traveled 450kls to a station and overshoot by even 5kls if you really blew it how much difference is that going to make compared to actually before SCO existed?

hahaha well to be fair its basically a mini game wedged into the colonisation grind. Judging when to disengage the sco breaks up the monotony of hauling. I've personally found that the systems I've developed each have their own individual sweet spots for using the sco and when to disengage. Problems generally happen when in new systems!

Sometimes overshooting a starport etc is no bad thing as when looping around can often be actually facing the station entrance which saves a bit of time.

So far there has been this one time where I was thousands of lys away, engaged the sco drive, and disengaged just in time for the automatic supercruise assist to drop me 20kms away.. All happened in a few seconds, felt like a superpilot :)

Personally I think this needs to stay somewhat difficult. I was already on the edge when reducing the SC times was discussed, I think the current state is a good compromise. Otherwise space and would really really made irrelevant.

Keep it at least somewhat skill based and dependant on user input.
