New ship: Panther Clipper

So the box of the Beluga (the largest so far in the game) is 209.10m x 131.60m x 38.6m, which makes the box of the Panther merely 3/4 of that size.
Most of that bounding box is emptyness that doesn't count for collision detections. The bounding box only matters for what landing pad a ship fits on, nothing else. A big (by volume and mass) ship doesn't need to have the biggest bounding box, and a small ship can fill most of the maximum bounding box possible.

Fdev felt that 1200 tons of cargo is the right amount (whether the playerbase agrees or not) and the PC needs to be the size that it is to fit that.

The PC Mk II is not the XL, because there's much unused space on the landing pad.
The XL doesn’t exist? Folks getting all worked up about some mythical other Panther Clipper meanwhile the actual ship is about 200-300t short of where it should be.

It’s been 10 years since Cutter, 11 since Type-9. Some sense of reality here is recommended, because if Frontier is (clearly) borderline terrified of exceeding 1000t, why on earth expect something well bigger again, let alone any time soon. This is their big ship. It doesn’t matter how much of the pad it uses.

Folks get riled up about any kind of fantasy they build up in their heads. Nothing new or surprising here.

It's not big enough.
It never is.

I can literally play this piece in my head:
"We want moar cargo!"
"Well, here it is! 1200 tons! We even gave it a name you love! Hope you're happy!"
"It's not big enough! We want moar! Wah!"
"... mkay.... here's your Super Duper Clipper Mk.XXL, carrying over 2000 tons of cargo!"
"Wah, wah, power creep, stupid Frontier, lazy devs!"

There's literally nothing that can ever be done right.

Remind me why we can't have nice stuff☝️
Here you go.

To be fair, let’s look at the events leading up to that conversation. That conversation would not have happened at all had they not also released a new hauling grind, bigger than any hauling grind that existed before. I don’t think anyone would have complained about the 1200 cargo amount had the problem not been artificially created by the same people who are now (surprise!) offering a slight early reprieve for a few bucks.

You have way more than that already, it's called a fleet carrier.

Now they just need to allow us to transfer goods to it directly from the station markets the way we do with ships.

I’m surprised that they didn’t remove that option for ships in EDO so that we can instead move the individual bins ourselves, on foot, from the station to the ship’s cargo. 🤣

The ship needs paints like a poison dart frog.
