Ship impounded Can't switch active ships

you can recall a ship using the insight wheel🤷‍♂️
have you completed all the training missions?
hacking terminals etc is not for untrained noobs
play the game acepting missions from inside the ship only for six weeks do not leave the ship for that duration

indeed. will take my lumps. haven't finished all the training missions. landed on the dang planet w/o an SRV so couldn't target terminal to hack it.

as usual, operator (me) error.

i'll spank myself in a few, trying to not lose these missions that expire in like 3 hours 🤣🤦‍♂️

Good luck, commander!

If that's one of those ship-based missions (from the ship based mission board, as opposed to on-foot missions from the concourse terminal): you don't need a SRV. You only need a reasonably small ship. And you need to be fast and/or well armoured.
Approach the base in your ship.
First pass: you'll get the treespass warning, so be quick. Find the terminal by eye (or, if you're lucky, you may be able to see it on your local contacts), then get out of the trespass zone before you're slapped with the fine.
Second pass: now you know where the terminal is, deploy hardpoints (necessary for the data scanner to be available), the get within scanner range of the terminal (around 20...50 meters or so), use the ship's data scanner on the terminal. If you're really fast, you can get out again without a bounty. If you're not quite as fast, you get the bounty and the ground defense starts shooting at you. That's where speed, possibly chaff and good armour come into play.
Before you return to the mission giver, you might wantr to visit one of the local neighbourhood Intersteller Factors. The bounty usually won't matter for the mission, as the factions you're stealing the data from usually aren't the station owners, but they have a way of creeping up on you from behind when you least expect it and e.g. want that ship transferrred to you...

hadn't thought of that, the 3 defense turrets that shot at me prolly had something to do with it 🤷‍♂️
