New Paintjobs

On a slightly tangential note, does anyone know whether FDev have ever explored making the Ship ID and Name decals available in colours besides black, white, and grey?

I'm not saying it should be top of their list by any means, but it would give some further customisation options for our ships.

This seemed like the thread to drop this in.
From the ongoing summer sale in the ED Store, and since the search/filter functions leave a bit to be desired, I had to make these for myself anyway to pick which few I want. Hope they help someone else visualize too.

For searching:
Anaconda, Diamondback Explorer / DBX, Krait Phantom, and Type-9
Summer & Summer Night
Blueberry, Mango, and Grape

Yes, several times. That is, the community talked about it, whether it's been considered by development we don't know. Not only the colours, but very much the ability to move the position of decals because there are designs where no existing variant fits.

FDEV are surprisingly good at ignoring cosmetics requests for which players would throw money at them, instead producing a lot of "oh my god, what is this, who asked for this ?" stuff.
Well, yes it seems like that a lot, but we don't know what we don't see. Actual sales and what people complain about even are logical opposites but that doesn't occur to those who voice emotions. It wouldn't enter my mind to berate someone else's fashion taste just because I wouldn't choose it myself.

But where they are shooting themselves in the foot is by hiding what they previously had, because these things can no longer contribute economically. It makes no sense whatsoever with digital items which cost nothing to copy and keep in the store after they have been designed. If I put my tinfoil hat on, it feels as if they want to bury stuff which was created with much more effort back then from being seen alongside newer things which look like low-key, serial production stuff. I just think if we want them to make sense, the complaints also must make sense. Phrases like "who asked for this" don't, because putting designs up for sale is always trial and error, or in this context there aren't even any errors, just some things are liked by more people than others and it doesn't really matter. It may even happen that rarely seen items get more attention once this is noticed, but removing them also takes away the chance.

Looks like the german store page had a little Deja Vu of tomorrow... 😁View attachment 435213

Edit: aaand it's gone again... at least for now...
It's gone ...to the American store page (which was normal when you posted, but since then has gained all of those improper listings, including the blank Python Steampunk elements)
If anyone was curious, clicking on any of the listings takes you to a 404: File Not Found page. No early orders or piecemeal Python kits I guess :)

Edit: aaand it's gone...

Holy moly 17 paintjobs for a new ship right from the start ??

"Funny" though, that the Freighter gold paintjob from the little Deja vu yesterday evening is not puchaseable alone today as it is a part of the Stellar version... Odd...
